Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo stop Gemini from accessing your Gmail, turn off the Google Workspace Connected App in Gemini. If you use a work or school account, your organization’s administrator may control this access. Disconnecting prevents the app connection from being used going forward, but it does not erase Gemini Apps Activity that was already recorded.
Disconnect Google Workspace from Gemini
Gemini connects to Gmail through the Google Workspace Connected App, which can search and summarize inbox content. Google’s instructions say to turn off an app to disconnect it. (Google Gemini Apps Help: Use & manage Connected Apps in Gemini; Connect the Google Workspace app to Gemini Apps.)
- Sign in to Gemini with the same Google account you use for Gmail.
- Open Gemini’s settings. Depending on the interface, look under Settings & help or Personal Intelligence, then open Connected Apps.
- Find Google Workspace and turn it off.
- If you later change Keep Activity settings, return to Connected Apps and check that Google Workspace is still off.
Menu labels and availability can vary by device, app, country, and account. Follow the Connected Apps options shown for your account.
What turning off Keep Activity does
Turning off Keep Activity also makes Google Workspace unavailable in Gemini. Google says other Connected Apps such as Google Workspace are unavailable while Keep Activity is off. If you turn Keep Activity back on, access to apps you had previously connected can be restored; check the Workspace setting rather than assuming the disconnection will remain in effect. On Android, some device-related Connected Apps may remain available with Keep Activity off, but that exception does not keep Workspace available. (Google Gemini Apps Help.)

Work and school accounts may need an administrator
For an organization-managed Google account, a Workspace administrator may manage whether Gemini can access Workspace data, including Gmail messages. If Google Workspace is missing, unavailable, or cannot be switched off in your account, contact your organization’s administrator. Personal-account instructions cannot override an organization’s policy. (Google Workspace Learning Center: What controls Gemini’s access to Workspace data.)
Disconnecting Gmail does not delete past Gemini activity
Turning off the Connected App stops the connection; it does not remove Gemini Apps Activity already recorded. Google also says disconnecting an app or deleting data in a connected app does not delete data from Gemini Apps Activity. Manage or delete that activity separately in Gemini’s activity controls. Google notes that changes to or deletion of connected-app data can take days to affect Gemini’s experience, so do not treat disconnection as retroactive erasure of content Gemini already processed. What Google says about Gmail data and model training
Google distinguishes between training directly on Gmail inboxes and using information Gemini derives from connected content. Google says it does not train generative AI models directly on Gmail inboxes. It also says summaries, excerpts, generated media, and inferences from relevant emails and files may be used to answer prompts and, when Keep Activity is on, to train models to improve Google services. In some cases, a summary may be as extensive as the email or file itself. Google says a subset of connected-app data processed by Gemini may be reviewed by trained human reviewers and advises against connecting apps containing confidential information you would not want a reviewer to see. (Google Gemini Apps Help: About personalization with Connected Apps.)
