If your Bose headphones keep dropping their phone connection, start by moving the phone close, checking whether another paired device is taking over, and restarting both devices. If that does not help, remove and rebuild the Bluetooth pairing, check for updates in the Bose app, and follow troubleshooting steps for your exact headphone model.
1. Identify your Bose headphone model
Before clearing saved connections or resetting anything, identify the exact model in the Bose app or from the product label. Bose’s pairing and reset instructions vary by model, so a button sequence for one set of headphones may not apply to another.
2. Rule out distance and interference
Move your phone close to the headphones and temporarily reduce nearby sources of wireless interference. Bose advises keeping QuietComfort Ultra Headphones within 33 feet (10 meters) of the connected device, but that is product guidance, not a guaranteed range in every environment or for every Bose model. Walls, doors, and other electronics can reduce usable range. If interference seems likely, Bose suggests testing with one nearby wireless device at a time. If the problem occurs while charging, note that Bluetooth is disabled while QuietComfort Ultra Headphones are charging. Disconnect the charging cable before testing the Bluetooth connection; this detail is specific to that model. Bose QuietComfort Ultra support

3. Check whether another device is interrupting the connection
Some Bose headphones support multipoint, which connects to two devices at once. A notification on the secondary device can interrupt audio from the phone. For a diagnostic test, turn Bluetooth off on the second device or disable multipoint in the Bose app, if the model and app version provide that setting. Menu names and availability vary. If audio switches or cuts out when a notification arrives, test with the secondary device disconnected. If the phone stays connected and playback stabilizes, the second device or multipoint behavior is a likely factor.

4. Restart the phone and headphones
Power-cycle both the phone and headphones, then reconnect. Restarting is an easy diagnostic step that does not erase saved pairing information. If the connection still drops, rebuild the pairing.
5. Remove and rebuild the Bluetooth pairing
- On the phone, open Bluetooth settings and remove or forget the Bose headphones.
- If the phone lists duplicate entries labelled “LE,” remove those duplicates too when clearing the phone-side pairing.
- Use the instructions for your exact Bose model to clear its remembered Bluetooth devices, if needed.
- Put the headphones in pairing mode using that model’s instructions, then pair them with the phone again.
Bose recommends removing the headphones from the phone’s Bluetooth list and reconnecting when basic checks fail. If possible, also try the headphones with another Bluetooth device: a stable connection there can help isolate the original phone or its settings as the source of the problem. 6. Check for software updates in the Bose app
Open the Bose app and check whether an update is available for your headphones. Keep them connected and within Bluetooth range while the update transfers. Update availability and version numbers depend on the model and date; a version number listed for one model should not be treated as universal. Bose update instructions

If the connection keeps dropping after you have tested distance, other devices, restarts, pairing, and updates, use Bose’s troubleshooting page for your exact model or contact Bose support. Do not apply a reset sequence from another model. For example, the QuietComfort Headphones (2nd Gen) reset instructions involve connecting a USB-C cable to a power source; that step is not a universal Bose reset procedure and does not mean a new cable is necessarily needed. If disconnections persist across multiple devices after pairing cleanup and an update check, Bose support is the appropriate next step rather than assuming a replacement accessory or repair is required.
