To sign in without typing your Netflix password with the TV remote, open Netflix on the TV, choose Sign in, scan the on-screen QR code with your phone, open the link, and tap Sign in to TV. Netflix then signs in on the TV. If you mean Netflix asks you to sign in every time you open the app, use the separate troubleshooting steps below; that is usually a device issue or setting, not a different sign-in method.
Sign in to Netflix with the TV’s QR code
- Open the Netflix app on your smart TV or connected TV device and select Sign in.
- When a QR code appears, scan it with your smartphone camera.
- Open the link shown on your phone and tap Sign in to TV.
The TV should sign in automatically. This option is available only when the TV displays a QR code; if it does not, use one of the alternatives below. See Netflix’s sign-in instructions.
Other ways to activate Netflix on the TV
Use a phone or computer browser
Select Sign in in the TV app, then on a phone or computer visit netflix.com/tv2. Follow the prompts; the browser may first ask you to sign in to Netflix. For Apple TV, Netflix specifies netflix.com/atv.
Use an email sign-in link
- On the TV, select Sign in, then choose Use Remote if that option appears.
- Enter the account email address or phone number if prompted.
- Select Send Sign-In Link, then open the link sent to your email to sign in on the TV.
Netflix notes that the link option is not available on every TV. Menu names and layouts vary by device and model.

Enter a password with the remote
In the same Use Remote flow, choose Use Password Instead if offered. Password sign-in requires the primary Netflix account email address or phone number; an email address added to a profile cannot be used for this route. If that identifier is unavailable or the TV’s keyboard is inconvenient, use the QR, browser, or email-link method instead. Netflix’s options are described in its official sign-in guide.
If Netflix asks you to sign in every time you open it
Netflix devices do not stay signed in forever, so an occasional sign-in request can happen. A prompt every time the app opens points instead to a device issue or setting. Netflix directs people troubleshooting TVs and streaming devices to the device manufacturer for device-specific steps. Menus differ across brands and models; for example, Netflix’s Samsung TV instructions describe a particular interface rather than a universal path.

- Check that the email address or phone number shown on the TV is the one for the Netflix account.
- If entering a password, check its capitalization.
- Restart the TV or connected device.
- If you changed the password in a password manager, update the saved password in the Netflix app too.
