Google Calendar’s computer interface can display up to three time zones side by side: your primary zone, a secondary zone, and an optional tertiary zone. Turn on the extra columns in Settings to compare local times while scheduling; they are a visual aid and do not change the calendar’s primary time zone.
What Google Calendar’s three time zones show
The extra time-zone columns appear on the left side of the calendar grid. They let you compare the same calendar schedule against multiple zones, which can make it easier to find a workable meeting time across locations. Google describes the setup as adding “a secondary and a tertiary time zone” alongside the primary one. Google Calendar Help and the Google Workspace Learning Center document the feature.
How to enable the additional time zones on a computer
- Open Google Calendar on a computer.
- Click the gear icon, then choose Settings.
- Under General, select Time zone.
- Check Show additional time zones.
- Choose a Secondary time zone. Choose a Tertiary time zone too if you want three zones displayed in total.
The added zones then appear at the left of the calendar grid. The primary time zone remains your calendar’s main zone.
How time zones affect events and invitees
Calendar displays events in the viewer’s local time zone, so invitees see an event in their own local time. You can also create an event in a different time zone. For an event that starts in one zone and ends in another, Google supports setting separate start and end time zones. See Google’s event and time-zone guidance for the controls.

What to expect on Android
Google’s Android help describes using the device’s time zone or manually choosing the calendar’s time zone. It does not document the same three-column grid shown in the computer instructions, so do not assume the desktop display is available in the Android app. See Google Calendar’s Android time-zone instructions.
Daylight-saving changes and long-range planning
Google says Calendar uses UTC for daylight-saving-time handling, but past or future events may not reflect changes correctly. Displayed times adjust as dates move within a few years. For schedules far in the future, verify the event time when daylight-saving rules or local time-zone policies may change; the additional columns are a comparison aid, not a guarantee that every long-range time remains fixed. Google Calendar Help explains its daylight-saving behavior.
