YouTube Live Auto-start makes a broadcast begin when your encoder starts sending video to its linked YouTube stream. It does not create or loop a playlist, keep your computer or internet connection running, or guarantee that a 24-hour stream will be saved as one complete video. Before going live with Indian songs, confirm that you have the necessary rights for the live broadcast and any archive.
What YouTube Live Auto-start does—and what it does not
Auto-start controls when YouTube begins the broadcast: with the setting enabled, video arriving from the encoder on the bound live stream can start the broadcast automatically. Your encoder or other playout source must still provide the continuous program. YouTube’s setup guidance describes connecting an encoder to a stream, while its API lifecycle documentation explains how incoming video triggers the broadcast (YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder; YouTube Live Streaming API: broadcast lifecycle).
- Auto-start: Starts the YouTube broadcast when the linked stream receives video.
- Scheduling: Creates an upcoming watch page that you can share; viewers may be able to opt into reminders.
- Encoder or playout: Supplies the actual video and audio. It must remain operational for a 24/7 feed.
- Auto-stop: Controls what YouTube does after the encoder stops sending video; it is separate from auto-start.
Check channel eligibility and song rights first
Make sure the channel can livestream
Before configuring the stream, verify that your channel is eligible: YouTube says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and have live streaming enabled. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says livestreamers must be at least 16 years old (YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder; YouTube Help: Create a live stream on mobile).

Get permission for every song and use
Indian-language songs and Indian-origin recordings are subject to the same rights requirements as other music. Buying a song, owning a recording, finding it online, or having a general-purpose music subscription does not by itself establish permission to broadcast it publicly 24/7. YouTube’s terms put responsibility on the content provider to have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation, including applicable rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants (YouTube Terms of Service).

YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. A match may cause a placeholder to replace the stream, and YouTube may interrupt or terminate the broadcast if the matched content remains. If you have a license, ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; YouTube says a licensed stream may still be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted. YouTube for Artists advises: “If you’re planning on using copyright-protected music during your live stream, we recommend coordinating with your label or distributor to avoid any issues, such as copyright strikes.” (YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams; YouTube for Artists.)
Confirm directly with each relevant rights holder that the permission covers the live transmission, territories, monetization plans, and any replay or archive you intend to keep. Claims may also arise on an archived stream after the live broadcast ends.

Set up Auto-start in YouTube Studio
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. If this is a planned event, use the Manage tab to schedule it. To start an unscheduled continuous feed, create a stream in the Stream tab. Scheduling gives you an upcoming watch page to share; it does not replace the encoder connection.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key. In the stream settings, copy the YouTube stream URL and key into the encoder’s server/URL and stream-key fields. Treat the key like a password: it connects your encoder to the YouTube stream. Do not share it publicly; reset it if it is exposed.
- Enable Auto-start. In the stream settings, turn on Auto-start. With it enabled, YouTube can start the broadcast when video begins arriving from the encoder on the bound live stream. The encoder still needs to be configured to send your intended video and audio.
- Choose whether to enable Auto-stop. With Auto-stop enabled, YouTube’s API documentation says the broadcast ends about one minute after the encoder stops transmitting. That can be convenient for a deliberate shutdown, but a temporary feed interruption can end the broadcast rather than merely pause it. Choose based on how you plan to detect and recover from outages.
- Start the encoder and verify the feed. Begin sending the program from your encoder or playout source. Check the Live Control Room preview and the viewer-facing watch page for video, audio, and the expected start behavior. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality; test privately or unlisted before making the stream public (YouTube Help: Encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions).
Keep a 24/7 stream running and plan for interruptions
Auto-start is not a 24/7 playback system. A continuous broadcast requires a source that keeps sending the program, plus monitoring of both the outgoing feed and the viewer-facing stream. If the encoder, computer, power, or network stops supplying video, Auto-start alone does not create a replacement feed or restore the interrupted source.

A scheduled watch page and Auto-start solve different problems: scheduling helps viewers find an upcoming stream; Auto-start governs what happens when the encoder feed arrives.

Will YouTube save a 24-hour stream?
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Because a 24-hour broadcast exceeds that stated threshold, do not count on one complete replay being available as a single archived video. If a full replay matters, arrange a separate recording and confirm you have the rights to retain and distribute it (YouTube Help: Live streaming with an encoder).
Common Auto-start problems and fixes
