Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTo set up OpenLogi with an MX Master 4, install OpenLogi for your computer, quit Logi Options+ first (and Solaar on Linux), connect the mouse over its included wireless USB receiver or Bluetooth, then select it in OpenLogi and configure its controls. The MX Master 4 is listed as supported, but OpenLogi is actively developed and not yet stable, so check the current instructions for your operating system.
Before you start
- OpenLogi documents installation for macOS, Linux, and Windows. Use the current installation guide for your operating system because packaging and setup details may change.
- Quit Logi Options+ before opening OpenLogi. The two applications can compete for HID++ receiver access, and only one can own a receiver at a time. On Linux, quit Solaar as well.
- Have the MX Master 4 powered on and decide whether to connect it with the included wireless USB receiver or Bluetooth.
OpenLogi describes itself as a local-first Logitech HID++ configuration app. It supports Logitech devices connected through Logi Bolt, Unifying, and Lightspeed receivers, Bluetooth, or USB cables. The project documentation says: “OpenLogi is under active development and not yet stable.” OpenLogi project documentation
Install OpenLogi for your operating system
Follow the official OpenLogi installation guide for the latest download and setup steps. The documentation covers macOS, Linux, and Windows; Linux instructions include package and permission details, while Windows offers MSI or portable ZIP installation. If you use the portable Windows version, keep the GUI and background agent together.
OpenLogi documentation has described a published v0.8.11 baseline, but that is not a guarantee that it is the latest release. Check the project’s current release and instructions rather than relying on steps for an older package.

Connect the MX Master 4
Logitech supports setup with either the included wireless USB receiver or Bluetooth. Use the receiver if you prefer a dedicated wireless connection and have a suitable USB port or adapter; use Bluetooth if you want to pair directly with the computer. Logitech’s MX Master 4 setup instructions
- Turn on the mouse and connect its receiver to the computer, or open the computer’s Bluetooth settings.
- If pairing over Bluetooth and the mouse is not discoverable, hold the Easy-Switch button for three seconds. Logitech says the LED should blink quickly when the mouse is ready to pair.
- Complete pairing in the computer’s Bluetooth settings if you chose Bluetooth.
Select the mouse and configure its controls
Open OpenLogi and choose the detected MX Master 4. OpenLogi’s supported-device list identifies the model as 2b042; its device guide covers buttons, gestures, the thumb wheel, DPI button, Easy-Switch, and the Haptic Sense panel. Supported devices · MX Master 4 device guide

Use the app’s controls to configure the options available for your connected mouse. The guide documents DPI and presets, SmartShift, scroll inversion, button actions, and gesture bindings. If recognition or a particular control is uncertain, use the device diagnostics to inspect the features reported by that unit. Firmware-reported identifiers can look different from OpenLogi’s registry ID.
Do not copy the example unit:… device key in the guide as a universal setting. Device blocks refer to a specific physical mouse; configure your mouse in the app and use the key generated in your own config.toml.

Linux: check permissions and the background agent
OpenLogi’s Linux packages install udev rules for HID++, uinput, and the mouse input node. If the mouse or receiver was connected while those rules were installed, unplug and reconnect the receiver or power-cycle the mouse so the updated rules can take effect.
When systemd is available, the installer starts a per-user background agent. If you installed a package manually, enable that agent separately as described in the current installation instructions. Keep Solaar closed while OpenLogi needs access to the receiver.

What the MX Master 4’s DPI and battery figures mean
Logitech says the MX Master 4 has a 1000 DPI default configuration and that its sensor can be extended up to 8000 DPI using Logi Options+. OpenLogi separately documents DPI controls for supported mice, but Logitech’s figures do not establish that the two apps expose identical settings or interfaces. Logitech MX Master 4 features
Logitech also claims up to 70 days on a full charge, and says three minutes of charging can provide enough power for a full day of use. Both battery figures depend on usage and operating conditions; Logitech’s cited support page does not show a publication date.
