“Borderlands MMO” does not identify a specific game in the official sources available. The setup steps below are for Borderlands 4 only; menus, requirements, and controller support can differ across Borderlands titles. Confirm which game you own before applying them.
Set a realistic resolution and performance target
For Borderlands 4, 2K’s official PC guide lists these targets by specification tier. They are baselines, not guarantees: actual performance depends on your PC and settings.

These targets come from [Borderlands Support’s Borderlands 4 PC Troubleshooting and Optimization Guide, published September 6, 2025, and updated October 6, 2026]. They are not independent benchmark results. If you own Borderlands 3, its separate requirements page labels minimum specs for 1080p gaming and recommended specs for 1440p gaming; do not substitute its hardware list for Borderlands 4’s. Choose an upscaling option in Borderlands 4
- Launch Borderlands 4 and open Options.
- Go to Visuals, then Advanced.
- Open Resolution Scaling and select an option supported by your hardware.
The official guide lists DLSS for NVIDIA, FSR for AMD, TSR from Epic Games, and XeSS from Intel. It recommends Performance upscaling quality and Frame Generation On, but these are recommendations rather than universal settings. Availability depends on hardware support, and the guide does not establish that Frame Generation or a particular upscaler improves image quality or latency on every PC.

Adjust graphics without judging performance too soon
Change settings toward your goal: prioritize a lower preset or Performance upscaling quality when you need more performance; favor higher visual quality when your PC can maintain your target. Make one adjustment at a time so you can tell what changed. This is a general tuning method, not a tested preset for every GPU.
After a graphics change, Borderlands 4 recompiles shaders. Borderlands Support says this takes about 10 minutes on most PCs and recommends playing for at least 15 minutes after changes before evaluating performance. A brief hitch or uneven frame rate immediately after changing settings may not reflect how the game will run once compilation and the recommended play period are complete.

Set up controls for the game you actually own
The available official control reference is an older PC manual for the original Borderlands, not Borderlands 4. It says: “You can play BORDERLANDS using a keyboard / mouse or the Xbox 360 Controller for Windows®.” That statement does not confirm Borderlands 4 bindings or current controller compatibility.
For your installed game, open its own controls or options menu to inspect the available input devices and bindings. The cited sources do not establish a Borderlands 4 controls-menu path or provide its current key and button assignments, so check in-game rather than relying on the original manual. Troubleshoot poor performance after setup
If performance remains poor after shaders have had time to rebuild, Borderlands Support recommends updating graphics drivers and checking the game installation. Its guide includes steps to verify game files on Steam and Epic and suggests disabling overlays while troubleshooting.
