The alert reports that chart condition; it is not a buy recommendation or a forecast that Cardano’s price will rise.
What an ADA golden cross alert detects
In this example, a golden cross occurs when the faster 50-period SMA crosses upward through the slower 200-period SMA. A cross in the opposite direction is commonly called a death cross. These are configurable periods, not universally optimal settings. The TradingView community indicator used for this example describes the 50/200 SMA setup and recommends daily or 24-hour charts; that is the indicator author’s guidance, not a universal rule (Trader745638’s TradingView community indicator, updated March 19, 2025).
A “period” means one chart bar. On a daily chart, the averages use daily bars; on a shorter interval, they cover a different amount of elapsed time. The cited community script uses SMAs. Other indicators may offer exponential moving averages (EMAs), which calculate averages differently, so check the selected script’s settings and description.
Set up the alert on an ADA chart
- Open an ADA market chart. Choose the ADA pair and venue available in your charting account, then verify the ticker shown on the chart. Market symbols and feeds vary; Coinbase’s ADAUSD chart is one example, not the only suitable option.
- Choose the interval. A daily chart is a practical choice for a 50/200-period example. The cited community indicator author recommends daily or 24-hour intervals, but says the indicator can be used on other timeframes.
- Add a crossover indicator. Select a moving-average crossover indicator that allows you to set the short and long periods and choose SMA. Configure the fast period to 50 and the slow period to 200. The cited example is a community script, not an official TradingView rule; inspect the script’s description and source before relying on it.
- Open alert setup. Right-click the indicator and choose Add alert, or open Alert Manager and select the indicator under Condition. TradingView supports alerts on indicators, including community-created indicators (TradingView: Getting started with technical alerts).
- Select the upward-cross condition. Choose the indicator’s Golden Cross condition. Labels vary by script; confirm that the event means the fast average crossing upward through the slow average. TradingView’s alert setup lets you configure the symbol, condition, trigger frequency, expiration and message (TradingView: Learn how to configure alerts).
- Choose when it triggers. Select Once Per Bar Close if you want the alert to wait for the current candle to finish. The cited indicator author recommends this to avoid signals based on an unfinished bar. It does not guarantee that later price action will confirm the signal.
- Choose notifications and expiration. Enable the notification options you want, set an expiration that suits you, and give the alert a descriptive name, such as “ADA 50/200 SMA Golden Cross — 1D.” Available notification options and settings depend on TradingView’s alert configuration.
- Review and create the alert. Check the symbol, interval, indicator, condition, trigger frequency, notifications and expiration before saving. You can create and manage technical alerts using the controls documented in TradingView’s technical-alert help.
Check the alert after changing settings
TradingView says an existing alert keeps the indicator settings that were in effect when the alert was created. If you change the indicator’s periods or other parameters later, review the alert and update or recreate it so it uses the settings you intend (TradingView: Getting started with technical alerts).

What the alert can—and cannot—tell you
A moving-average crossover is calculated from past prices, so it is a lagging technical condition. An alert tells you that the selected averages crossed under the configured chart conditions; it does not establish that ADA will rise, provide a success rate, or predict future returns. TradingView cautions against relying on its technical ratings alone (TradingView: Technical Analysis of Cardano (COINBASE:ADAUSD)).
