Set up the MU68 for first use
1. Choose a connection mode
The MU68 supports three connection options:
- USB-C wired: Connect the included cable to the keyboard and your computer. This avoids relying on the battery while connected by cable.
- Bluetooth: Use this for a paired Bluetooth device. The official product information confirms Bluetooth support, but does not specify pairing shortcuts or a device-switch sequence.
- 2.4 GHz wireless: Insert the included dongle into the device you want to use. The product information confirms this mode but does not specify a pairing procedure.
2. Turn on wireless power before pairing
- Use the included puller to remove the Caps Lock keycap.
- Locate the small power switch beneath the keycap and turn it on.
- Replace the keycap, then connect by Bluetooth or the 2.4 GHz dongle.
The location of this switch is easy to miss. If wireless does not work, check it before troubleshooting the computer’s Bluetooth settings or the dongle.

3. Restore wired mode if needed
If the keyboard was previously connected wirelessly, plugging in the cable may not automatically change it to wired mode. XVX’s MU68 FAQ instructs users to press Fn+T to switch to wired mode. This is the stated recovery step when simply connecting the cable does not work.
Configure keys, layers, macros, and lighting in VIA
VIA customization requires both a connection to the keyboard and the correct model configuration file. XVX says to load the corresponding JSON file for the keyboard model before using VIA; do not assume VIA will identify or configure the MU68 correctly without it.

- Connect the MU68 to the computer.
- Open VIA and load the MU68 configuration JSON available from XVX’s downloads or product page.
- After the configuration is loaded, make the desired changes to key mappings, layers, macros, or lighting.
- Test a small change, such as remapping one key, and check the relevant layer before building out more complex mappings or macros.
That last check is a cautious workflow recommendation, not a manufacturer-prescribed requirement. Keep a record of the original mapping if you may want to restore it.
Customize switches and keycaps carefully
Changing switches
The MU68 is hot-swappable, and XVX lists a puller and extra stock switches in the box. The listed stock switch is the pre-lubed XVX Coral Sea linear, with manufacturer specifications of 45 ± 5 gf operating force, 2.00 ± 0.4 mm pre-travel, and 3.40 ± 0.4 mm total travel. XVX also lists a 50,000,000-stroke lifespan; these are manufacturer figures, not independent measurements.

Replacing keycaps
The included set is MOA-profile PBT. Before buying an aftermarket set, confirm that it covers a 68-key ANSI layout and includes the specific bottom-row and individual key sizes used by the MU68. The layout name alone does not guarantee every set will fit.

Why can’t I use wireless mode?
