To move to a new Realme phone, complete its on-screen first-start setup, then use Realme’s Clone Phone app to connect the new and old devices and select the data to transfer. If Clone Phone is unavailable or you need another route, Realme also documents local and Google backups. Keep the old phone intact until you have checked your important data on the new one.
Before you start
Charge both phones and keep them close together for a direct transfer. For a backup, Realme advises keeping the battery above 50% and not powering off or restarting the phone while the backup is running. It also recommends copying a completed local backup to another storage location. Realme backup and restore guidance
- Make sure you can unlock the old phone and access the accounts you use on it.
- If important files are not backed up elsewhere, create a separate backup before transferring.
- Do not reset, flash, or trade in the old phone until you have checked the new phone. A reset erases phone data, and a local backup stored only on the phone can be lost if the phone is reset or flashed. Realme backup and restore guidance
Complete the new Realme phone’s first setup
Turn on the new phone and follow the prompts on screen. Realme’s first-start instructions for the Middle East and Africa describe connecting to Wi-Fi, choosing an unlock method, optionally signing in to a HeyTap account, deciding whether to import data, personalizing the phone, and completing setup. Some steps may be skipped and revisited later. Button names and available options can vary by model, software version, and region. Realme first-start setup instructions
If you are offered an import option during setup, you can use it or finish setup and open Clone Phone afterward. For the latter, Realme lists the path on the new phone as Tools > Clone Phone; the app name or location may differ on your software version. Realme Clone Phone instructions

Transfer data with Clone Phone
- Install or open Clone Phone on both devices. Realme’s instructions require the app on the new Realme phone and the old phone. The app available on the old device and its permissions can affect what is transferable. Realme Clone Phone instructions
- Set the new Realme phone as the receiver. On the new phone, open Tools > Clone Phone and choose New phone.
- Set the old phone as the sender. Open Clone Phone on the old device and choose Old phone.
- Connect the phones. Scan the QR code shown on the new Realme phone with the old phone.
- Choose what to move and keep the phones near each other. Follow the prompts on screen and let the transfer finish before using or disconnecting the devices.
Realme says Clone Phone can transfer personal data such as contacts and messages, system data, applications and application data, and files including audio, video, photos, and documents. That is a list of supported categories, not a guarantee that every third-party app or its private data will transfer exactly. Check sensitive apps individually—especially those that require a separate sign-in or have their own backup process. Realme Clone Phone instructions
Choose a backup alternative if direct transfer is not suitable
| Method | What it is suited to | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Clone Phone | Direct transfer when both phones are available and usable. | App compatibility and private app data are not guaranteed for every third-party app. |
| Local backup | Creating a backup on the old phone that you can copy elsewhere. | A backup left only on the phone can be erased by a reset or flash; copy it to another storage location. |
| Google backup | Restoring eligible backed-up data using the associated Google account during setup or after a factory reset. | Available data and restore behavior depend on the account, Android version, device, and backup state. |
Local backup
Realme documents local backups for contacts, messages, call logs, preference settings, and apps, excluding app data. It is therefore not a substitute for checking photos, documents, and app-specific information. The route depends on realme UI version: Realme’s EU support instructions list Settings > System/Additional settings > Back up and reset for realme UI 3.0 through 7.0, while realme UI 2.0 uses a different route. Labels can vary, so look for backup controls in Settings if the path does not match. Copy the completed backup file to a computer or other storage before resetting the source phone. Google backup
Realme describes managing device backups through Google One. Its listed backup categories include app data, call history, contacts, settings, SMS/MMS, and photos and videos. Realme says backed-up photos and videos are available in Google Photos; other backed-up data is restored during initial setup or after a factory reset. Realme says restoration can take up to 24 hours, which is guidance rather than a promise of a typical completion time. Exact results can depend on the account, device, Android version, and backup state. Realme local and Google backup instructions

Check the new phone before wiping the old one
Open the new phone’s contacts, messages, photos, videos, and documents, and verify that the files you rely on are present. Sign in to important apps and confirm their data separately. Keep any local backup copied to another storage location until you are satisfied with the migration; only then decide whether to erase or trade in the old device.
