To set up a Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i, use the Setup Guide for your exact model, power it on, and follow Windows’ prompts for language, account, and internet connection. Once you reach the desktop, install Windows updates through Settings. Slim 3i configurations vary by size, generation, and region, so check your laptop’s model information before relying on instructions about its ports, charger, fingerprint reader, or bundled apps.

Before you turn on your IdeaPad Slim 3i

Start with the Setup Guide and safety information for your particular laptop. Lenovo’s August 2026 guide covers 11th-generation Slim 3i models in 14-, 15-, 16-, and 17-inch sizes, but Lenovo notes that illustrations, features, applications, and accessories can vary by region. The family name alone does not tell you which ports or accessories your unit has. Find your full model name or machine type on the device label or through Lenovo Support, then use the documentation for that model. Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3i support materials

Check the box for the charger and any model-specific setup instructions. Do not assume every Slim 3i ships with the same adapter, port selection, or preinstalled software.

Complete Windows’ first-start setup

  1. Power on the laptop. Follow the model’s Setup Guide for any device-specific steps.
  2. Choose the on-screen language and related settings. Windows will guide you through its initial choices; the exact screens can differ by Windows version, edition, region, and later Windows changes.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi. Windows Home and Pro require internet access to finish setup, according to Microsoft’s setup guidance. Choose a trusted network and enter its password.
  4. Sign in or create an account. Lenovo’s general Windows setup instructions say that personal-use initial setup requires an existing Microsoft account or a new one. Lenovo also describes choosing a local account after initial setup. Follow the options currently shown on your device, since screens and requirements can change.
  5. Finish the remaining prompts. Review the options Windows presents and wait for setup to complete before using the desktop.

If Wi-Fi does not connect

Use what you see on the network screen to narrow down the problem. Microsoft’s Windows setup guidance covers connection troubleshooting for Windows 10 and Windows 11.

Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3i 15.6" FHD Laptop, Intel Processor N100, 4GB DDR5 RAM, 128 SSD, WiFi 6, Windows 11 Home in S Mode, Arctic Grey, 82XB00HVUS
  • CPU: 12th Gen Intel Processor N100 0.8 GHz (4 Cores, 4 Threads, 6M Cache, up to 3.40 GHz).
  • Screen: 15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080), Non-Touch; 88% AAR on the IdeaPad Slim 3i’s FHD LCD display, which comes with a taller 16:10 aspect ratio on the 16’’.

  • Ports: 1 x HDMI 1.4, 1 x Power in, 2 x USB-A 3.2 Gen 1, 1x USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, 1x Headphone/mic combo, 1x SD card reader

A network is listed, but the laptop will not connect

  • Check that you selected the correct network and entered its password accurately.
  • Confirm the router is broadcasting its network name, then move closer to improve the signal.
  • If needed, restart the router and try again.
  • Try another trusted Wi-Fi network or a phone hotspot. A hotspot may use mobile data.
  • Use a wired connection only if your exact laptop has an Ethernet port or you have a compatible adapter.

No Wi-Fi networks are listed

  1. Check that Wi-Fi is enabled and that the laptop is within range of a network.
  2. If Windows displays an error indicating a Wi-Fi adapter driver problem, use another device to download the correct driver from Lenovo Support for your exact model.
  3. Copy the driver to a USB flash drive, connect it to the laptop, and follow Microsoft’s driver-recovery instructions to load it during setup.

The USB method is for the documented missing-network, driver-error case—not a routine step for every first-time setup. Avoid downloading drivers from unofficial sites.

Install Windows updates after setup

Once you have an internet connection, open Settings > Windows Update and check for updates. Lenovo says updates applicable to the installed Windows version download automatically when the computer is online, and recommends using Windows Update rather than other sources because they may present security risks. Follow Windows’ prompts and restart when requested. Lenovo’s IdeaPad Slim 3 Series User Guide

Check Lenovo utilities if they are installed

Some Slim 3 series laptops may include Lenovo Vantage, Lenovo PC Manager, or Lenovo Smart Engine; availability and features are not uniform. Lenovo describes these utilities as tools for product or system status and device settings. Vantage can check for and perform system updates, while PC Manager may handle driver updates. If a Lenovo app is already installed, use it only for functions offered on your device and consult support for exact-model guidance. Windows Update remains the recommended route for Windows updates.

Confirm instructions match your laptop

If a port, power adapter, fingerprint reader, or utility mentioned in an instruction does not match your device, do not assume something is missing or broken. Confirm the full model name or machine type and consult its Lenovo documentation.
