To run meditation music on YouTube around the clock, enable live streaming on your channel, prepare music and visuals you have rights to use, and send a continuous feed from an encoder to YouTube Live. A local setup depends on a computer, power, and a reliable internet connection staying available. A cloud service is an alternative if you do not want a computer running at home.

What you need before going live

  • A YouTube channel that is verified and has no live-streaming restriction from the previous 90 days. YouTube says creators must be at least 16 to live stream, and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements before planning a launch.
  • An encoder: software running on a computer or a hardware encoder that sends your audio and visual feed to YouTube Live. For a pre-recorded music-and-visual program, the encoder must keep sending the feed continuously.
  • Music and visual assets cleared for the uses you intend, including a live broadcast, any replay, territories, and monetization if applicable.
  • Enough sustained upload capacity for the encoder, plus a plan for interruptions and, if needed, a separate recording for replays.

For local encoding, the source computer and its internet connection must remain operational. A cloud host can remove the home-computer dependency, but it adds a service cost and another provider whose reliability, security, and current terms you should evaluate.

Set up the continuous stream

1. Enable live streaming and verify eligibility

Open YouTube Studio and follow the prompt to enable live streaming if it is not already active. Complete channel verification and check for restrictions before announcing a start time. Because first-time activation can take up to 24 hours, do not leave this step until the day you intend to launch.

2. Prepare and test your audio and visual loop

Choose original or properly licensed meditation music and a visual you created or have permission to use. The visual can be a still scene, original artwork, or a restrained animation; YouTube does not require a particular animation style or resolution for this format.

Before broadcasting, play the full loop and listen for clicks at the join, gaps, clipping, unexpected silence, or abrupt volume changes. Check that the visual loop transitions as intended. Test the actual files and playback path you plan to use rather than relying only on a short preview.

3. Create a live event in YouTube Studio

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live.
  2. In Live Control Room, create a stream from the Stream tab, or schedule it from Manage.
  3. Set the title, description, thumbnail, visibility, and chat settings. If you schedule the stream, YouTube says it may appear in subscribers’ feeds, where viewers can request a reminder. See YouTube’s guidance for managing live streams.
  4. Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s destination settings. The key is a credential that lets YouTube accept the encoder’s feed: do not share it publicly. If it is exposed, reset it in Studio. See YouTube’s encoder setup instructions and stream-key guidance.

4. Configure the encoder and preview

Select the intended audio and video sources in the encoder and confirm that its destination uses the URL and key for the correct YouTube event. Use an encoder preset appropriate to the source and your available upload connection; there is no single resolution or bitrate that is right for every meditation stream. Confirm the stream is arriving in Live Control Room and inspect the preview before making it public or starting the scheduled event.

If your encoder offers recording, consider saving a local copy when you need an archive. Verify that the recording is actually being written and that the destination has sufficient free storage.

5. Start early and monitor the broadcast

YouTube’s setup checklist advises configuring the encoder at least two hours before a scheduled broadcast and starting it at least 15 minutes beforehand. Use that time to check the Live Control Room preview, audio and video quality, and the watch page on a phone. If using a backup stream or failover, test it before relying on it. During a long-running broadcast, monitor the stream and alerts regularly rather than assuming the initial preview guarantees uninterrupted operation. See YouTube’s live-stream setup tips.

Protect the stream from connection and power problems

YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream bitrate. Where primary and backup streams apply, account for both streams plus that headroom. A shared Wi-Fi connection can leave less capacity for the encoder than a speed test suggests, and an internet interruption can disrupt the broadcast. Prefer a stable wired connection where practical, and avoid sleep settings or automatic restarts that could stop a local encoder.

  • Plan for the failure you can address. A second internet path can help if the primary ISP connection fails; backup power can help keep local equipment on during a brief power outage. A UPS does not keep the ISP or YouTube online.
  • Test recovery. Simulate the kind of interruption you expect, then confirm whether the encoder reconnects and the stream resumes as intended. Do not assume failover works until you have tested it.
  • Keep credentials secure. Limit access to the stream key and to any hosted encoder account that stores it. Reset the key if it is exposed.

These protections reduce particular risks; they do not establish guaranteed uptime. A continuous broadcast still depends on the encoder, connection, power, and YouTube accepting the feed.

Clear music rights before you broadcast

You need rights for the music and visual content you transmit. YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have necessary rights for use of live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. Read the YouTube Terms of Service and the actual license for every asset.

Do not assume that a “royalty-free” label, purchased download, streaming subscription, or credit line grants permission for a YouTube livestream, replay, or monetization. Confirm that the license covers your planned uses, territories, and duration. If the licensor uses Content ID, ask whether your channel must be allowlisted before you go live.

YouTube scans live broadcasts for third-party matches. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder and issue a warning; continued use can interrupt or terminate the broadcast. A license alone may not prevent a match from interrupting the stream if the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel. See YouTube’s copyright guidance for live streams.

Plan for archives and long sessions

YouTube automatically archives live streams that are under 12 hours, but warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A single 24/7 event therefore may not produce a replay. If a replay matters, record locally and check available storage, or plan shorter sessions and verify that each session’s archive is available. Shorter sessions create handoffs or restarts, so explain any planned interruption to viewers. YouTube also says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable for very long broadcasts, including those over 12 hours. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Understand the monetization limits of a loop format

YouTube Partner Program creators may monetize live streams, but ads and eligibility are not guaranteed simply because a broadcast runs continuously. YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams and say repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. A static image paired with an endlessly repeated track is not a safe basis for assuming monetization approval. Original music, meaningful creative variation, and a channel that clearly demonstrates authorship and value are more defensible choices. Review YouTube’s channel monetization policies.

Or let it run in the cloud

StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live in a loop. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. The computer at home can be off while the cloud runs the stream, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops it. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a live camera feed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I loop music on a YouTube live stream?

Yes. An encoder can send a continuous feed made from pre-recorded audio and visuals. You still need the rights to use each asset and should test loop transitions before going live.

Will YouTube save a 24/7 live stream?

Do not count on a replay from a single 24/7 event. YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; record locally or plan shorter sessions if an archive is important.

Can I use copyrighted meditation music on a live stream?

Only if you have the rights for the broadcast and any other intended uses. Even licensed music can trigger a Content ID interruption unless the rights holder has allowlisted your channel.
