You can change the first day shown in Outlook’s calendar, but Microsoft’s documented settings do not let you assign a different first day to each calendar within the same Outlook app. The setting is for the app’s calendar view. If you use separate calendar apps, each may have its own preference; that is different from setting each calendar separately inside Outlook.
Can I make one Outlook calendar start on Sunday and another on Monday?
Not through a documented per-calendar setting in Outlook. Microsoft’s instructions provide a first-day-of-week preference for Outlook, but do not describe separate week-start choices for individual calendars displayed in one Outlook installation. You can choose the setting that suits your calendar view, but it applies as an Outlook preference rather than being assigned to each calendar.
Windows 11 regional settings are not a documented workaround for this. Microsoft says some date formats and alternate-calendar language or names can depend on operating-system region and language settings; that does not establish a Windows control for giving individual Outlook calendars different week starts. In classic Outlook for Microsoft 365, Outlook 2024, or Outlook 2021, the setting is in Calendar options:

- Select File > Options > Calendar.
- Under Work time, choose a day from First day of week.
- Select OK.
Microsoft documents Sunday as the default first day in classic Outlook. Its documented default work week is Monday through Friday, with work hours of 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.; these are classic Outlook defaults, not universal Windows 11 settings. Microsoft’s classic Outlook calendar instructions.
Change the first day in new Outlook
- Select Calendar.
- Choose View > Calendar settings.
- Under Calendar appearance, open Show the first day of the week as and choose a day.
- Save the setting.
The setting changes which day appears first in the calendar view; Microsoft’s instructions do not offer a separate choice for each calendar. Microsoft’s new Outlook calendar settings instructions.

Change the first day in Outlook on the web
Open Calendar settings and find the first-day preference in the Settings pane or calendar appearance settings. Choose the day you want; that day appears first in Week view. The exact presentation can depend on the current settings interface. Microsoft’s Outlook on the web calendar settings instructions.

First day of the week versus Work Week
These settings do different jobs. First day of week determines the starting day and order of days in the calendar view. Work Week determines which days are included when you view a work week. Changing the work-week days does not set a different first day for an individual calendar. Microsoft discusses the first-day preference separately from work time and work-week settings in its classic Outlook instructions and Outlook on the web instructions.

Why does my calendar start on Sunday instead of Monday?
First check which Outlook version you are using, because the setting is in a different place in classic and new Outlook. Then change the first-day preference using the matching path above. In classic Outlook, Sunday is Microsoft’s documented default. Changing Windows region or language settings may affect some date presentation details, but Microsoft does not document those settings as a way to set different week starts for individual Outlook calendars.
