To track Amazon deals before Prime Day, save the exact products you want, subscribe to alerts on Amazon’s event page, and set a target-price alert for items with a firm budget. Then check the product’s price history before buying. These are separate tools: event alerts surface eligible deals, while a target-price alert watches one item against a threshold you choose.
For Amazon’s U.S. marketplace, the company says Prime Big Deal Days 2026 begins October 6. That is the fall event; Amazon’s main Prime Day 2026 event ran June 23–26. Event dates and app options can vary by year and marketplace, so check the event page for your account.
1. Save the exact products you want to track
Start with a shortlist rather than browsing when the sale is underway. On each product page, confirm the model and configuration—such as size, color, storage, or included accessories—before saving it. Similar-looking listings can represent different products, and an alert for the wrong version is not useful.
Add eligible items to a Wish List, Cart, or Save for Later. Amazon says eligible saved items may qualify for advance Alexa deal notifications; saving an item does not guarantee an alert. You do not need an Echo device to use Amazon’s app and product-page tracking features.

2. Subscribe to Amazon’s event-page deal alerts
Amazon’s event guidance describes a separate way to follow deals related to your recent searches and recently viewed products:
- Open the Amazon Shopping app and go to the Prime Day event page.
- Choose the option to subscribe to deal alerts, if it is available for your account and marketplace.
- Allow app notifications so subscribed-deal notifications can reach your device.
Amazon says it sends push notifications when subscribed deals become available. This is an event-focused option, not a price threshold for every item on your shortlist. App wording and availability can change, so use the current event page rather than relying on an old menu path.

3. Set a target price for an individual item
For a product you want only below a particular price, use Alexa for Shopping on the product detail page to create a price alert. Amazon’s example is to ask for an alert when an item drops to a stated amount. Choose a threshold that fits your own budget; a sample amount is not a recommendation about what the item is worth.
Amazon renamed Rufus to Alexa for Shopping on May 13, 2026. Older instructions that mention Rufus may refer to the same shopping assistant under its former name.

Amazon also describes asking Alexa for Shopping for deals in a category, such as noise-canceling headphones, and receiving daily updates when matching deals appear. That is a broader, need-based request; it is distinct from setting a specific threshold for one product.
Keep an alert notification-only unless you intend to buy automatically
Amazon documents an Auto-Buy option for Alexa for Shopping. If enabled, it can complete a purchase using the default payment method when the target price is reached, without another purchase prompt. If you want to decide yourself when and whether to buy, leave Auto-Buy off and use a regular alert.

4. Check the product’s price history before buying
On an eligible product detail page, open the “Price history” link beside the price. Amazon also says you can ask Alexa for Shopping about an item’s price history. Use the graph to understand how the displayed price compares with that item’s past prices; it cannot guarantee a future drop or that a past low will return.
Amazon says price history is available to customers in the U.S., UK, Canada, and India. The company also said 365-day price insights were rolling out in the U.S., UK, and India, with broader availability expected in the coming weeks. That announcement does not establish the same history window in every marketplace, so check what the listing actually shows.

Amazon reported in 2026 that more than 50 million customers had used price history since its 2024 launch, and that customers checked it three times a month on average. Those are Amazon-reported figures, not independent measurements of how often shoppers use the feature.

Amazon says Alexa may notify shoppers up to 24 hours before an eligible deal on an item saved to a Wish List, Cart, or Save for Later. The company describes notifications on an Echo device as a yellow ring light or a pop-up. “Up to 24 hours” is the stated possible lead time, not a promise that every deal will be flagged or announced that far ahead.
6. Decide whether a third-party tracker fits your needs
Keepa advertises Amazon price-history charts and price-drop alerts. CamelCamelCamel advertises a free Amazon price tracker with history charts and drop alerts. Their pages describe those features, but do not establish complete listing coverage, alert timing, or regional support. No comparative accuracy test is established here, so choose based on the listing and marketplace you need to follow and the setup you are comfortable with.

A practical pre-sale checklist

- Set a target threshold for items where you know the maximum price you are willing to pay.
- Keep Auto-Buy disabled if you want to approve each purchase yourself.
- Use price history as context for that listing, not as a prediction of the next sale price.
- Check the current event page and marketplace for dates and feature availability.
