You can send files from Android to iPhone with Google Quick Share on supported Android models: the iPhone temporarily allows AirDrop discovery, then accepts the incoming file. If direct sharing isn’t supported on your Android, Quick Share can create a QR code for an internet-based download. These options are for individual files; use Apple’s Move to iOS when you’re moving supported content to a new iPhone during setup.
Choose the right transfer method

Google’s supported-device list can change, and availability may vary by region. Check your exact Android model on Google’s Quick Share compatibility page before relying on direct sharing.
Send a file directly with Quick Share and AirDrop
This route requires a supported Android phone. Google says the direct connection is peer-to-peer and does not route the shared data through a server; that is Google’s description of the feature, not an independent security audit.
- Bring the phones close together. Google says the devices need to be within Bluetooth range, with Wi-Fi enabled.
- On the iPhone, allow AirDrop discovery. Open AirDrop settings and choose Everyone for 10 minutes. This temporary visibility setting lets the Android phone find the iPhone.
- On Android, open the file and choose Share. Tap Quick Share, then select the iPhone from the nearby-device list.
- Accept the transfer on the iPhone. Tap Accept on the AirDrop notification.
Google’s instructions and current compatibility information are on its Quick Share page. Google’s security explanation is in its November 20, 2025 security announcement. Google’s Dave Kleidermacher, VP of Platforms Security & Privacy, wrote that the feature uses a direct peer-to-peer connection, so shared data is not routed through a server.

Use a QR code if the iPhone does not appear
If your Android model does not support direct interoperability—or the iPhone does not show up—Quick Share’s QR option can send the recipient a browser download link. Unlike the direct route, this method uses Google servers, and both phones need internet access.
- On Android, open Quick Share and choose the files to send.
- Tap Use QR code to display the code.
- On the iPhone, scan the code with the Camera app and open the resulting link in a browser.
- Download the files from the Google page and save them on the iPhone.
Google says QR transfers are end-to-end encrypted and available to download for 24 hours. The documented limits are 10 GB per 24 hours and 1,000 files per session. What if Quick Share doesn’t show the iPhone?
- Check Android compatibility. Confirm the exact model against Google’s current supported-device list; models and regional availability can change.
- Check AirDrop visibility. On the iPhone, set AirDrop to Everyone for 10 minutes while the Android phone searches.
- Bring the devices closer. Google specifies Bluetooth range for direct discovery.
- Enable Wi-Fi. Google includes Wi-Fi as a requirement for the direct connection.
- Use the QR route if direct discovery remains unavailable. It works through a browser download rather than the direct peer-to-peer connection, and needs internet access on both devices.
Use Move to iOS for a new-phone migration
Apple’s Move to iOS app is intended for moving supported content—such as contacts, messages, photos, videos, files and folders—to a new iPhone or iPad during setup. It is not the simplest choice for sending one file to someone with an iPhone.
Keep both devices nearby and plugged in until the transfer finishes, and leave Move to iOS open on the Android phone during the transfer. Apple notes that some content, including music, books and PDFs, must be moved manually. If you have already completed iPhone setup, Apple says you must erase the iPhone to use the setup transfer flow, or move content manually instead. Requirements and available transfer paths depend on device and operating-system support; follow Apple’s current Move to iOS instructions.
