To send a Bcc email on an iPad, open Apple Mail, compose a message, tap Cc/Bcc, then enter the concealed recipients in the Bcc field. Bcc means blind carbon copy: those recipients receive the message, but their names are not shown to the other addressees. Use To for the main visible recipients and Cc for visible copies.
How do I Bcc someone on my iPad?
In Apple’s built-in Mail app, reveal the Bcc field from the compose screen and add the recipient there. Apple’s iPad Mail guide describes the action this way: “Tap the Bcc field, then enter the names of people whose names you don’t want other recipients to see.”
- Open Mail and tap the Compose button.
- Add the main recipient in the To field. These recipients will be visible to other addressees.
- Reveal the additional address fields: tap Cc/Bcc.
- Tap Bcc and enter the names or email addresses you want to keep from the other recipients.
- Complete the message by adding a subject and writing the email, then tap Send.
The key step is tapping Cc/Bcc to expose the Bcc field; it is not a separate app or an accessory. If you want a copied recipient to be visible to everyone, put them in Cc instead.

Cc sends a visible copy, while Bcc sends a copy without showing those recipients’ names to the other addressees. Choose based on whether the recipient list should be visible.

For example, put the person responsible for the conversation in To, colleagues who should be included openly in Cc, and any recipient whose name should not appear to the other addressees in Bcc. Bcc controls recipient visibility; it does not make the message itself private from the people who receive it.
How can I automatically Bcc myself on iPad?
Turn on Always Bcc Myself in Mail settings if you want a copy of outgoing messages sent to yourself automatically. This is a general setting, unlike manually adding a Bcc recipient to just one draft.

- Open Settings.
- Tap Apps, then Mail.
- Under the Composing section, turn on Always Bcc Myself.
With the setting enabled, Mail adds the account owner as a Bcc recipient on outgoing messages. Use the manual Bcc field instead when the hidden copy should go to someone else or apply to only one email.

How do I choose which email account sends the message?
If you have more than one account configured in Mail, you can select the sending account from the draft. Tap Cc/Bcc, tap From, tap From again, and choose the account you want to send from.

Check the From account before sending if the draft should go out from a particular address. This selection is separate from the Bcc recipient: From identifies the sending account, while Bcc identifies a recipient whose name should not be shown to the other addressees.
Why can’t I see the Bcc field in Mail on iPad?
In a new message, tap Cc/Bcc in the compose screen; that control reveals the additional address fields, including Bcc. The field may not appear as a separate entry before you expand those fields.

If the control or labels still do not match, compare the screen with Apple’s current iPad Mail instructions. Apple’s cited guide is for iPadOS 27, so an iPad running another version may show a different interface. The workflow described here is for Apple’s Mail app.
When should I use manual Bcc instead of Always Bcc Myself?
Use manual Bcc when you need to conceal an additional recipient on a particular message; use Always Bcc Myself when you want Mail to copy you on outgoing messages generally.

Do Bcc recipients receive the message itself?
Yes. Bcc changes whether their names are shown to the other addressees; it does not withhold the email’s contents from them.
Can a Bcc recipient see the To and Cc recipients?
Bcc conceals Bcc recipients’ names from the other addressees, but it does not hide the visible To and Cc fields. Do not use Bcc as a way to conceal the message’s visible recipients from its recipients.
Does Bcc encrypt an email?
No. Bcc is a recipient-visibility option, not an encryption feature. Do not rely on it to protect sensitive message contents.
