Google Calendar for Android offers two ways to find tasks: a full-screen task-list view for browsing and organizing lists, and the calendar grid for tasks scheduled on particular dates. To see a task on the grid, it must have a date and the Tasks layer must be enabled.
Find all your tasks in Calendar’s full-screen list
Google’s current Calendar listing on Google Play describes accessing and organizing task lists in a full-screen view. This is the view to use when you want to browse lists rather than locate tasks on particular calendar dates.
Open Calendar on your Android phone or tablet and use the Tasks control at the top right to access your task lists. From there, you can add a task or work with existing tasks. The full-screen list and the calendar grid are separate surfaces: a task can be available in a list without appearing on a date in the grid.
Show dated tasks on the calendar grid
Calendar’s grid displays tasks that have a date. Google’s Android Tasks Help also says the Tasks layer must be turned on for these items to show.

- Open the Calendar app.
- Open the app menu and make sure Tasks is checked.
- Give the task a date if it does not already have one. Dated tasks can then appear on the grid for their scheduled day.
If a task is missing from the grid, check both conditions: it needs a date, and Tasks needs to be enabled in the menu. A task list view is a better place to look for items that have no scheduled date.

Google documents several entry points for creating tasks in Calendar. Choose whichever is convenient:

- Tap an empty slot on the calendar, then choose Task.
- Tap Add, then choose Task.
- Tap Tasks at the top right, then choose Add task.
Enter the task details and save. Add a date if you want the task to appear in the calendar grid; a time is optional.
Check overdue or uncompleted tasks
To review uncompleted items tied to a day, open that day’s schedule and tap Pending tasks. Google says Pending tasks includes uncompleted tasks from the last 365 days. This is useful for overdue work as well as tasks that remain unfinished on their scheduled dates.

Understand task notifications and recurring tasks
Google’s Android Tasks Help distinguishes notifications by how a task is scheduled:
- A task with a date and time can notify at its scheduled time.
- A task with a date but no time notifies at 9 a.m. local time.
- A task with a deadline receives a deadline-day notification at 9 a.m. local time.
Calendar can also be used to edit, complete, delete, repeat, or hide completed tasks. Google notes two limits for repeating tasks: repeating tasks with subtasks are not supported, and only a certain number of upcoming repeat instances appear on the calendar grid at a time.

What “now” means in the headline
Google’s October 2, 2020 Workspace Updates announcement said users could create and view tasks in Calendar on Android and iOS. Google described that mobile rollout as gradual, taking up to two weeks, and said it was available to G Suite customers and personal Google Accounts. That announcement documents mobile task support; it does not establish when Calendar’s separate full-screen task-list view first arrived.
Google later described the broader Tasks integration in a September 20, 2022 announcement. Ilya Brown, Google’s VP of Product Management, wrote: “Soon, we’ll be simplifying our task management solutions by migrating Assistant and Calendar Reminders to Google Tasks.” That provides context for the integration, not a launch date for the full-screen Android list view. Google’s current Calendar listing describes that view as available, and was updated August 20, 2026.
