To see who viewed your Instagram Story, open your active Story and swipe up from the bottom, or tap the Activity/seen-by area. Instagram displays the accounts it lists as viewers for that Story. Check promptly: current guides report that names may be available for up to 48 hours from the time you posted, even though the Story itself normally disappears from public view after 24 hours.

How do I see who viewed my Instagram Story?

  1. Open Instagram and tap your profile picture to open your own active Story.

  2. Swipe up from the bottom of the Story, or tap the Activity/seen-by area at the bottom to expand the list.

The control’s label or position can vary by app version. These steps are corroborated by current secondary guides; Instagram’s linked Help Center page could not be retrieved for direct confirmation. Linktree’s current guide describes the relevant app controls.

How long can I see who viewed my Story?

Stories normally stop being live after 24 hours. Current guides report that viewer names may remain accessible for up to 48 hours from the original posting time, including through an Archive route after the Story expires. Treat that as reported guidance, not a guaranteed retention period, and check as soon as you can. A Story or Highlight may remain viewable after its viewer names are no longer available. Linktree’s guide and other current guides describe this window, but Instagram’s official help page was unavailable for direct verification.

Can I control who sees my Story?

Instagram’s audience controls change who is eligible to see a Story; they do not expand the viewer list or reveal additional names. Related options include sharing with eligible viewers, choosing Close Friends, and using Hide Story from to exclude specific people. Their availability and labels can vary by app version. Linktree’s guide describes these controls; the linked Instagram Help page could not be verified directly.
