The report is not a maintainer-confirmed security advisory, and it did not identify a patched release. Until LMCache publishes and documents a fix, check whether the affected service is enabled and reachable; disable it if you do not need it, or restrict access to a trusted network.
What was reported—and what is confirmed?
Issue #5510 describes an unauthenticated POST /run_script endpoint in LMCache’s internal API server. According to the reporter, the endpoint runs uploaded Python in-process and passes the live FastAPI app object into a restricted-builtins sandbox. The reporter says that traversing the object’s globals can reach unrestricted builtins and execute operating-system commands. The report says this behavior was runtime-confirmed on LMCache 0.5.5. These are claims in an open, user-submitted issue, not a maintainer-confirmed finding or an official severity assessment. Read issue #5510.
The report says the internal API server is disabled by default, but binds to 0.0.0.0 on a port starting at 6999 when enabled. A service bound to all interfaces may be reachable beyond the local host, depending on the host network, firewall, and deployment. Do not assume every LMCache installation is exposed: confirm the actual service settings and network path in your environment.
The issue page said no patched version was available when it was filed. No confirmed fixed release is established here, so do not treat any particular LMCache version as patched without checking the project’s release information and changelog.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What should LMCache operators do first?
- Inventory each deployment. Record the installed package or container version, how it is launched, which LMCache services are running, and the interfaces, ports, and network paths through which each can be reached. Inspect deployment manifests, startup arguments, service definitions, and runtime configuration rather than relying on defaults.
- Check the internal API server and
/run_script. Establish whether the internal API server is enabled and whether the endpoint is exposed in the running deployment. If you do not need the service, disable it using the mechanism supported by your deployment. The available report does not establish a universal configuration flag or command, so do not guess at one. - Restrict necessary access. If operations require the internal API server, limit network reachability to trusted operators and systems. Apply access controls at an appropriate network boundary, such as a firewall or service gateway, and enforce authentication there. The report describes the endpoint as unauthenticated, so a reachable service should not be treated as protected merely because it is intended for internal use.
- Check for a documented fix before upgrading. Follow the issue’s updates and LMCache’s official repository release information. Before deployment, verify that a release or security notice explicitly addresses this issue and review its changelog. Do not infer that a version is fixed from its number alone.
- Review evidence of access or execution. Examine available logs and access records for unexpected requests to the internal API server, as well as unexpected child processes or command execution by the LMCache process. These are prudent review areas based on the reported behavior, not an official LMCache indicator-of-compromise list.
- Escalate suspected compromise. Follow your organization’s incident-response process, preserve relevant logs, and assess what credentials, secrets, and other sensitive data were available to the LMCache process. The report’s claimed access to command execution makes the process’s permissions and environment relevant to that assessment.
Is LMCache 0.5.5 vulnerable?
The #5510 reporter says they observed the described behavior on LMCache 0.5.5. That is a report about a tested version, not proof that every 0.5.5 deployment is exploitable or that all versions are affected. The report’s stated exposure condition is that the opt-in internal API server is enabled and reachable. Check your own version, service configuration, and network exposure; the available issue does not establish the full range of affected versions.
Are there other LMCache services to check?
Two separate user-submitted issues opened October 6, 2026, describe concerns in other services. They are distinct reports, not additional details of the /run_script issue:

| Issue #5511 | The reporter describes unauthenticated cache clearing or deletion and quota operations, along with configuration and environment disclosure, in the multiprocess HTTP server. The report gives a default bind of 0.0.0.0:8080 and says it tested 0.5.5. |
Check whether this server runs, which interfaces and ports it uses, who can reach it, and whether its environment or cache controls could be exposed. |
| Issue #5512 | The reporter describes unauthenticated proxy and node-catalog modification in the frontend service and says it tested 0.5.5. | Check whether the frontend service runs and whether access is limited to trusted operators. |
These reports are also user-submitted findings, not maintainer-confirmed advisories. Treat them as reasons to verify your own running services and access boundaries, not as proof that every deployment has those exposures.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is CVE-2026-10813 the same vulnerability?
No. The GitHub Advisory Database record for GHSA-3hh9-752g-5g22 describes CVE-2026-10813 as a separate weak-hash issue affecting versions through 0.4.6 and rates it low severity. That advisory does not identify the October 2026 /run_script report as the same issue. Do not use the older advisory’s affected-version range or severity to determine whether the newly reported service exposure applies to your deployment.
