Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsUse your device’s built-in screen recorder first: choose what to capture, decide whether to include microphone or device audio, then start recording. The controls and save location vary by platform, and some apps block recording.
Before you start: choose the screen area and audio
Decide whether you need the full display, a selected portion, a window, or an app or game clip. Then check the audio controls: microphone narration and device or system audio are separate options, and availability varies by platform and app. If the recording is meant to explain a process, test a short clip and play it back before recording a longer session.
Windows: record with Snipping Tool or Xbox Game Bar
Record a selected area with Snipping Tool
- Open Snipping Tool from the Start menu and choose Record.
- Select the screen area you want, then adjust its boundaries if needed.
- Start the recording, then stop and preview it when you are finished.
This is a straightforward starting point for recording an area. Microsoft also identifies Clipchamp as a Windows recording option. The available features can differ by Windows edition and setup. Microsoft’s overview of Steps Recorder’s deprecation and alternatives lists Snipping Tool, Xbox Game Bar, and Clipchamp.
Record an app or game with Xbox Game Bar
- Open the app or game you want to capture.
- Press Win+G to open Xbox Game Bar. If its capture controls are available, use them to start recording.
- Alternatively, press Win+Alt+R to start or stop a clip.
- To toggle the microphone while recording, press Win+Alt+M.
Game Bar can include computer sounds; check its capture settings before starting. Recordings are saved as MP4 files under VideosCaptures. These instructions apply to Windows 10 and 11 according to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Bar guide. Do not assume that every desktop surface or application can be captured by every Windows recorder.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Mac: use Screenshot or QuickTime Player
Record with Screenshot
- Press Shift-Command-5 to open Screenshot.
- Choose the control for recording the entire screen or a selected portion.
- Open Options to set a microphone or save location, if needed.
- Click Record. Stop from the menu bar or press Command-Control-Esc.
Apple’s guide describes Desktop as the default save location and lets you choose another location in Options. QuickTime Player is another built-in way to record the whole screen or a selected area. Apple says system-audio recording is available on macOS 27 or later, so do not expect that control on every Mac version. Some apps, including Apple TV, may prevent their windows from being recorded. See Apple’s Mac screen-recording instructions.
iPhone: record from Control Center
- Open Control Center and tap Screen Recording. Wait for the countdown to finish.
- If Screen Recording is missing, add its control to Control Center in your iPhone’s settings.
- For narration, press and hold the Screen Recording control, turn on Microphone, then start recording.
- To finish, tap the recording indicator and stop the recording.
Find the saved video in Photos. Some apps may block video or audio capture, and you cannot screen record while using screen mirroring. Follow Apple’s iPhone screen-recording guide for the current Control Center steps.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Android: use Screen Record in Quick Settings
- On Android 12 or later, swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings. If necessary, swipe down again to see more tiles.
- Tap Screen Record. If it is not visible, check the available tiles or your device maker’s instructions.
- Choose whether to record audio or show touches if those options appear, then start.
- To finish, use the Screen recorder notification.
Google’s steps cover Android 12 and later on most supported screens. Menu placement and recording options differ by device, so your phone may not show every setting described. See Google’s Android screen-recording instructions.
Chromebook: capture the whole screen, a window, or part of it
- Press Shift+Ctrl+Show windows to open the screen-capture controls.
- Choose Screen record, then select full screen, partial screen, or window capture.
- Open Settings to choose device audio, microphone, or both, if you need sound.
- Stop with the screen control or press Search+Shift+X.
By default, recordings go to Downloads; you can change the save folder. A partial capture can be saved as a video or GIF, but a GIF does not include audio or video input. See Google’s Chromebook screen-capture guide.

Where to find your screen recording
Save locations depend on the platform and, sometimes, the recorder’s settings. Check these documented defaults and locations:
- Windows Xbox Game Bar: VideosCaptures.
- Mac: Desktop by default in Apple’s guide; Screenshot Options lets you choose another location.
- iPhone: Photos.
- Chromebook: Downloads by default; the folder can be changed.
- Android: The exact location can vary by device; check your device’s gallery or file manager.
Troubleshoot a missing or silent recording
The recording control is missing
- iPhone: Add Screen Recording to Control Center.
- Android: Expand Quick Settings and look for the Screen Record tile; availability and placement vary by device.
- Windows: Try Snipping Tool for an area recording or Game Bar for an app or game clip, where supported.
The video has no narration or system sound
- Before recording, enable the microphone if you want your voice. On iPhone, press and hold Screen Recording to find the microphone switch; on Chromebook and Windows, check the relevant audio settings.
- Do not assume that microphone narration also captures device audio. Choose device or system audio separately where that option exists.
- Mac system-audio recording is version-dependent: Apple documents it for macOS 27 or later.
The app appears black or will not record
The target app may restrict capture. Apple specifically warns that some apps, such as Apple TV, may not allow their windows to be recorded. On iPhone, some apps can block video or audio capture. Try recording a different, permitted screen to determine whether the restriction is app-specific.
