How to scrape Workday career sites without a browser
A public Workday career site may expose its job search through a JSON endpoint, so a scraper can request structured listing data directly rather than render the page. This is an implementation pattern described by Dodo Data and also used by an independent open-source integration; it is not a formal public endpoint contract from Workday. 1. Identify the endpoint from the public career-site URL
Derive the employer tenant, Workday pod or instance, and career-site slug from the employer’s public careers URL. The endpoint pattern described in the article is:

The placeholders must be replaced with values from the specific site; they are not literal endpoint components. Career sites are configurable by employers, so do not assume every company uses the same site slug or setup. 2. POST a JSON search request
The article’s example sends a JSON body with four fields: appliedFacets, limit, offset, and searchText. For an unfiltered first page, its example uses empty facets and search text, a limit of 20, and an offset of 0. A generic request body looks like this:

3. Paginate using offsets and retain the first total
Request later pages by increasing offset while keeping the other search criteria consistent. Dodo Data reports 20 results per requested page and says requests for more than 20 return HTTP 400. It also reports that later page responses may show total as zero, so retain the first response’s total rather than treating a later zero as the overall result count. At a high level, the loop is:
- POST the first request with

- Continue until the response yields no additional records or another target-specific stopping condition is reached.

Why a Workday search may stop at 2,000 jobs
Dodo Data reports that some career-site searches return a total of exactly 2,000 because that is the maximum the site will paginate to, not necessarily the employer’s complete vacancy count. Its examples include 2,000 for NVIDIA and 1,483 for Salesforce. A count below that figure, such as the article’s reported Salesforce example, is not by itself a guarantee of completeness either.
Do not confuse the public career endpoint with business APIs
Workday’s service-limit guidance discusses throttling under high load for WWS SOAP, RaaS, and REST APIs. Those documented business APIs are distinct from the public career-site CXS endpoint, so their service-limit guidance does not confirm or explain the article’s reported CXS page-size or 2,000-result behavior. What fields can you collect?
According to Dodo Data’s examples, listing responses can include a job title, external job path, location text, relative posted date, and requisition identifier. That is enough to filter many records before fetching their individual pages. The article reports that public job detail pages can contain schema.org JobPosting JSON-LD with fields such as description, datePosted, employment type, location country, and identifier. Use listing data first, then fetch details selectively
To reduce unnecessary requests, filter the listing records by title, location, or date before opening detail pages. Fetch the page for a matching job only when the listing lacks a field your workflow needs, such as the full description or employment type. This two-stage approach follows the article’s suggested pattern; it does not guarantee that every detail page exposes the same fields.

Preserve uncertainty in relative dates
Listing text may say “Posted Today,” “Posted Yesterday,” or “Posted 30+ Days Ago.” Keep these as relative values unless you have a reliable way to resolve them. In particular, “30+ Days Ago” is a lower bound, not an exact posting date. Check site policy and keep request behavior responsible
Do not assume that every employer’s career site has the same rules. Dodo Data advises checking each tenant’s current robots.txt; it reports that some sites allow career pages while disallowing candidate or community routes. Read the actual site’s current policy and applicable terms before collecting data, and avoid treating a robots file as a substitute for those terms. Workday also documents that employers can configure external career-site settings, which is another reason site behavior and policy may differ. Use bounded retries for transient failures and avoid aggressive request rates. The article reports one sample run of 500 jobs and descriptions using 526 requests over 2 minutes 30 seconds, with four timeouts that succeeded after retry. A direct CXS integration avoids browser automation, but your pipeline must own endpoint discovery, pagination, retries, field handling, and policy checks.
