You should not scrape Cars & Bids without its prior authorization. Does Cars & Bids allow scraping?
Not without authorization. In its Terms of Use, effective August 14, 2026, Cars & Bids lists this prohibited conduct: “Engage in unauthorized spidering, scraping or harvesting of content or personal information, or use any other unauthorized automated means to compile information.” The same section also prohibits manual or automated processes to extract, aggregate, or reproduce site content for commercial purposes, competitive analysis, AI/ML training, or another purpose not expressly authorized by Cars & Bids. Read the Cars & Bids Terms of Use before planning a project; site rules can change.
A listing being visible to the public does not, by itself, grant permission to collect it systematically, build a dataset, or republish its contents. Nor does being able to view information in a browser establish that a particular automated access method is permitted. This is a practical reading of the site’s published rules, not legal advice about how they apply to an individual project.
What listing information can you inspect on the public site?
The newly listed auctions index shows rendered listing information such as vehicle titles, some headline attributes, bid amounts, and time remaining. Individual listing pages can present further vehicle details and auction information. The displayed fields are page content, not a documented data-feed schema, and the index is not a promise that every listing has the same fields or that those fields are approved for automated collection.

For a narrow question—such as checking a few comparable vehicles—visit the relevant pages directly and record only what you need for your own permitted use. Keep the listing URL and the time you viewed it with your notes. That timestamp matters: an active bid and the remaining time describe a changing auction state, not a confirmed final-sale price. Confirm the auction has ended and the outcome is established before describing a figure as a final result.
How to review a small number of auctions manually
- Open the official index. Go to Newly Listed Auctions and navigate to the listings relevant to your question.
- Open each listing on Cars & Bids. Read the vehicle description and the auction information as displayed. Do not treat a headline attribute or bid shown in the index as a complete record.
- Record only necessary observations. For personal research, useful notes may include the listing URL, the date and time checked, the displayed vehicle description, the current bid, and the displayed auction status or time remaining. Do not assume this is a field list approved for a larger collection or for reuse.
- Label what the information represents. Mark vehicle details as listing claims and bids as observations made at a particular time. Avoid presenting either as independently verified vehicle facts or a final sale amount unless you have separately confirmed that interpretation.
- Stop and request permission if the need becomes systematic. A recurring collection, a large sample, redistribution, or a commercial or analytical dataset is not simply more manual browsing. Ask Cars & Bids for written authorization before proceeding.
Ask for written permission before building a dataset
Cars & Bids says requests to use site content elsewhere require prior written approval and directs permission requests to legal@carsandbids.com. Its Terms also call for full attribution when requesting permission to use content. Describe your intended project clearly and wait for an affirmative response that covers it; do not assume a message sent, a public page, or an undocumented browser response constitutes approval.

To avoid ambiguity, ask the company to confirm the scope of any approval in writing. These are useful questions to put in the request, not permissions or terms already granted:
- Which fields and which categories of listings may be accessed?
- Is automated access allowed, and by what method?
- How often may data be collected, and are there volume limits?
- May the data be stored, for how long, and may it be shared, published, or used commercially?
- What attribution is required?
- Is there an approved API, bulk feed, or other access arrangement for the proposed use?
The official pages reviewed here do not document a public API or bulk feed. That does not establish whether an approved arrangement is available privately; ask Cars & Bids directly. Do not infer authorization from a page’s browser behavior or from the existence of data in a response.

How to interpret bids and auction details
Cars & Bids’ FAQ describes users registering, opening a vehicle’s listing, and using the Place Bid control to submit an offer. Its current FAQ rules, reviewed September 29, 2026, specify a $100 minimum starting bid and these increments:

The FAQ says bids are in U.S. dollars, including for vehicles located in Canada. It also says a submitted bid places a card hold equal to 5% of that bid until the auction ends if the bidder does not win. Cars & Bids’ Support page describes the buyer-fee hold as having a $250 minimum and $7,500 maximum. Those descriptions refer to different contexts; do not collapse them into one universal formula. Check the current FAQ and support wording before relying on these operational rules, which may change.

Data quality: treat listing details as claims, not verified facts
The Terms say listing content is prepared from seller-provided or seller-confirmed material and that Cars & Bids does not independently verify its accuracy or completeness. If an authorized project records vehicle attributes, identify them as seller-provided listing claims and preserve provenance. Verify material vehicle facts through suitable independent sources before using them for a consequential decision or presenting them as established facts.
Bid and timing fields also need context. An active bid is a moment-in-time value; it can change before the auction closes. Time remaining is similarly transient. A reproducible dataset should distinguish an observation from a completed auction outcome and retain the time and source page for each permitted observation.

- “It is public, so I can scrape it.” Public visibility is not permission for systematic collection or reuse. Ask for written approval first.
- “I only need to collect it manually at scale.” The Terms also address manual extraction, aggregation, or reproduction for specified purposes and any purpose not expressly authorized. Ask Cars & Bids about your intended use rather than assuming manual collection avoids the restriction.
- “I found a hidden response, so it must be an API.” A browser response or undocumented endpoint does not establish permission. The reviewed official pages do not document a public API or bulk feed; ask whether an approved arrangement exists.
- “The bid shown is the sale price.” A live bid is a time-sensitive auction state. Confirm the auction has ended and the result before labeling a figure as a final sale amount.
- “The listing specs are verified.” Cars & Bids says listing information comes from sellers and is not independently verified for accuracy or completeness. Preserve that qualification and verify material facts independently.
- “A screenshot tool makes the collection compliant.” A technical capture method does not create permission. Obtain authorization covering automated access and your planned use before capturing pages systematically.
