You can schedule a YouTube livestream for an overnight slot, but YouTube’s scheduling tools create the event page—they do not turn an ordinary playlist into a live broadcast. To play prerecorded videos as a livestream, prepare a continuous video feed and send it to the scheduled event with an encoder or cloud service. Before saving an India overnight schedule, check the timezone displayed in the live-event interface; YouTube’s live-event guidance does not specify which timezone that field uses.
What you need to schedule a YouTube playlist livestream
Think of this as two separate jobs: YouTube creates the upcoming livestream and its watch page, while an encoder supplies the actual video and audio feed. Your playback setup must present the prerecorded videos as a continuous feed; selecting an existing YouTube playlist as the live input is not a documented setting in YouTube’s scheduling or encoder instructions. - A verified YouTube channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- An encoder and playback or automation setup that can feed your video sequence continuously for the intended duration.
- Video and audio files you have the rights to use.
- A stable internet connection with enough upload capacity for your stream bitrate.
If this is your channel’s first livestream, activate access well ahead of the overnight slot: YouTube says first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.

How to schedule a YouTube livestream in YouTube Studio
- Open the live-stream manager: In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then open Manage.
- Create the scheduled event: Choose Schedule Stream. You can reuse settings from an earlier event or create a new one.
- Enter the event details: Set the title, visibility, and planned start time. For an overnight stream in India, choose the intended local date and time and verify the timezone shown in the live-event interface before saving. The live-event guidance does not identify the timezone used by that field. YouTube’s separate scheduled-video publishing guide documents a timezone control, but that is a different workflow; do not assume it determines the live-event behavior. - Save and confirm the event: Check the scheduled event in Live Control Room and make sure its watch page and planned start time are correct.
Scheduling gives viewers an upcoming live event to visit; the event will not show your prerecorded sequence until an encoder begins sending the feed.

Prepare the prerecorded sequence and connect the encoder
Build a continuous feed
Arrange the recordings in the playback or automation setup that will feed the encoder. Plan for the full overnight duration, including what should happen when one video ends and the next begins. YouTube’s event and encoder instructions explain how to connect a feed, not how to assemble a playlist of files into a continuous program, so confirm those playback details in the software or service you choose.
Use the scheduled event’s stream details
In your encoder, select YouTube if it offers that option, or enter the stream URL and stream key shown in Live Control Room for the event. The stream key authorizes the encoder to send video to your channel, so treat it like a password: do not publish it, share it publicly, or reuse it carelessly. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the connection process at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder; settings and controls can vary by encoder.
Rehearse and check the stream before the overnight window
YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before a livestream and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. Use that time to check the preview in Live Control Room, confirm the event is reachable by viewers, and monitor audio and video. Its guidance also recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. - Confirm that the correct scheduled event and stream key are selected.
- Check that playback advances through the sequence and that audio is present.
- Verify the preview and viewer access before relying on the stream overnight.
- Keep the encoder and playback process running for the planned duration; a scheduled event alone does not send content.
Choose how to keep the feed running overnight
The key choice is who or what keeps the playback and encoder process alive while you are away.

YouTube’s encoder help content names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming, but verify its current features and terms directly before choosing it. YouTube also describes software encoding as an option; buying an expensive encoder is not a prerequisite for a basic setup.
End the stream and understand the replay
To end the livestream, stop the encoder from sending content. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not establish automatic archiving for a stream lasting 12 hours or longer, so do not rely on a replay being created for a longer run. For an overnight program approaching that duration, plan the end time with the archive limit in mind.

Copyright and channel-policy checks
Use recordings, music, images, and other material for which you have the necessary rights. A scheduled event or an overnight format does not grant permission to rebroadcast copyrighted content. Check that the channel remains eligible to livestream and that the content complies with YouTube’s applicable rules before starting. YouTube’s readiness guidance includes verification and recent livestream restrictions; access can be affected by channel status.
Troubleshoot common overnight scheduling problems
The scheduled event appears, but viewers see no program
The event page is only the scheduled destination. Start the playback setup and encoder, then confirm that the encoder is sending to the event’s stream URL and key and that a preview appears in Live Control Room.
The stream does not start at the expected India time
Reopen the event details and inspect the displayed date, time, and timezone. The live-event guidance does not state which timezone the field uses, so do not infer it from YouTube’s separate scheduled-video controls. Correct the event details if needed and allow time for a new rehearsal.

The encoder will not connect
Check that the event is the one selected in the encoder and that its stream URL and key match Live Control Room. If this is the channel’s first livestream, remember that activation can take up to 24 hours; access restrictions may also prevent streaming.
Playback stops partway through the night
Check whether the local computer, playback process, network, or power stopped, or whether the automation service ended the sequence. Test the complete playlist behavior before the event and verify that the setup handles transitions between recordings.

Check the encoder’s connection and available upload capacity against the total stream bitrate. YouTube recommends 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond that bitrate. Recheck video and audio in Live Control Room before leaving the stream unattended.

No replay appears afterward
Check the stream duration. YouTube’s cited archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours; it does not promise an automatic archive for streams of 12 hours or more.
