To schedule a 24/7 sleep-sounds broadcast, create a scheduled event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and send it a continuous prerecorded feed from an encoder. Scheduling creates the event and watch page; it does not make a playlist play continuously by itself. You also need a way to keep the encoder, power, and internet connection running—or use a cloud service.
Before you schedule: confirm the channel can go live
YouTube’s current guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before the planned broadcast.
Choose how the prerecorded audio and visuals will reach YouTube: encoder software on a computer, a dedicated hardware encoder, or a cloud service. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes these options, but listing an encoder does not guarantee that it can loop your media or recover unattended for a 24/7 broadcast.
Prepare the sleep-sounds feed
Clear the rights for continuous live use
Make sure you have permission to broadcast every sound recording, musical composition, visual, and other element in the feed—and to rebroadcast it continuously. A purchase, a “royalty-free” label, or making the audio yourself does not automatically establish that the license permits continuous livestreaming on YouTube. Check the actual license terms and any platform-specific restrictions before going live.

Build and test the loop in your encoder
Prepare the audio and any visuals in the software, device, or cloud service that will send the feed. Confirm that playback repeats as intended, transitions do not create silence or abrupt changes, and the output remains active. YouTube’s scheduling instructions do not define a universal playlist-loop feature; looping behavior depends on the encoder you choose.
Schedule the YouTube live event
- Open Live Control Room: In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live → Manage → Schedule stream.
- Create the event: Choose a new stream or reuse settings. Enter the title and description, add a thumbnail if appropriate, select the audience and privacy settings, and complete other applicable details before saving.
- Choose who can watch: Public is appropriate when you want the event discoverable; unlisted shares access by link; private restricts access. YouTube’s privacy defaults may vary by age, and you can change the setting.
- Share the watch page if useful: A scheduled event can be shared in advance. Eligible viewers may see a Notify me option.
The event is now scheduled, but it will not generate the continuous sleep-sounds feed on its own. The encoder still needs to connect and send audio and video.

Connect the encoder and start the broadcast
- Allow time for setup: YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. Use this margin to test the feed rather than waiting until the start time.
- Copy the connection details: In Live Control Room, find the stream URL and stream key. Select a YouTube preset in your encoder if one is available; otherwise, enter the URL in its server field and the key in its stream-key field.
- Protect the stream key: YouTube Help says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Do not share or publish it. If it is compromised, reset it in Live Control Room and update the encoder with the new key.
- Start sending the feed: Start the encoder before the event. In Live Control Room, confirm that the preview appears and check that audio is present and stable. Test the watch page and mobile playback, then select Go live when the event is ready.
- Monitor the stream: Check the encoder and live preview during the broadcast. Plan how you will respond to an internet, power, or encoder failure. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream quality; this is not a guarantee of unattended uptime.
Choose how to keep the stream running
The practical difference between a local encoder and a cloud service is who maintains the equipment and connection. Compare options on continuous-loop support, power and network responsibility, stream-key handling, monitoring and recovery, supported YouTube connection method, and total operating cost. Confirm those capabilities with the provider or encoder documentation; they vary by product.
- Computer and encoder software: You control the setup, but the computer, encoder, power, and internet connection must remain available for the broadcast.
- Dedicated hardware encoder: The encoder is a separate device, but you still need to verify its playback, restart, monitoring, and connectivity behavior for your use.
- Cloud service: The feed runs remotely rather than on your home computer. Verify that the service supports prerecorded looping to YouTube and understand its recovery and monitoring provisions.
Plan the replay separately from the live event
YouTube’s current encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its DVR guidance says rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. The cited guidance does not promise that one 24/7 broadcast will produce a complete replay, so do not rely on the live archive as your only recording.
