You can use JioFiber to send a 24/7 YouTube lofi livestream, but the plan’s advertised download speed does not prove that your connection can sustain one. Check your plan’s usage terms, measure dependable upload speed where you will stream, choose an encoder bitrate with headroom, and test the stream before making it public. Plan separately for copyright, power and internet interruptions, and YouTube’s limits on archiving very long streams.
Can I stream 24/7 on JioFiber?
Technically, a JioFiber connection can carry a YouTube livestream if its sustained upload capacity is sufficient for your chosen settings. Whether continuous broadcasting fits your specific plan is a separate question: Jio’s published terms include home-use and misuse conditions, and the available documents do not establish how Jio would classify every individual channel or monetized stream. Check the current terms for your own plan before relying on it for continuous broadcasting.
Jio’s Postpaid FAQ says unlimited plans are for home use and warns that misuse, fraudulent, unauthorized or commercial use can lead to service discontinuation. Jio’s current Postpaid terms say consumption beyond 3300 GB in a bill cycle is treated as misuse and that plan data benefits may be withdrawn. Prepaid terms describe a 3300 GB threshold per 30-day recharge cycle. These are published terms, not a guarantee that a particular stream is permitted or that a subscriber will receive a specific warning or outcome. Read the [JioFiber Postpaid FAQ], [Postpaid terms] or [Prepaid terms] that apply to your account.

There are no locality-specific upload measurements or independent uptime figures established for this use case. Your result depends on the connection at your premises, the time of day, other household traffic, the encoder settings and local power. Measure and test your own setup rather than treating a plan’s advertised speed as a continuous-streaming guarantee.

What upload speed and bitrate should I use?
Upload capacity—not the download-speed headline—is the critical network measure for sending a stream. YouTube says the total stream bitrate must not exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Its guidance also notes that network sharing can limit the bandwidth available to an individual stream and that connectivity disruptions can break a broadcast. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
For H.264, YouTube lists 5 Mbps as a recommended bitrate for 1080p at 30 fps, and 3 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps. These are YouTube ingest recommendations, not evidence that a particular JioFiber line can hold either bitrate throughout the day. YouTube’s settings vary by codec, resolution and frame rate; consult its current encoder settings when configuring your encoder.

| Example H.264 output | YouTube-recommended video bitrate | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | Lower bitrate needs less upload capacity; verify that the picture remains acceptable for your artwork and animation. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | Requires more dependable upload headroom than the 720p example. Do not select it based only on a brief speed-test result. |
The bitrate is only part of the total network demand; account for the full stream and other household activity. YouTube’s 20% headroom recommendation is a starting point, not a substitute for testing at the intended bitrate. For a mostly static or gently animated lofi visual, a higher frame rate may not improve the result enough to justify its additional bandwidth. Pick the resolution and frame rate your upload can sustain, then validate them with a test stream.
Set up and test the stream before going public
- Check your plan and household usage. Identify whether your connection is prepaid or postpaid. Review the current plan-specific conditions and consider total monthly data use, including the stream and other people and devices using the connection.
- Measure upload at the streaming location. Run repeated speed tests from the computer or network location you plan to use, including during busy household periods. Treat each result as a snapshot. Choose a bitrate comfortably below the upload capacity you can depend on, leaving YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom and room for other network traffic.
- Create a test broadcast in YouTube Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in your encoder. Keep the key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Configure the encoder to a supportable output. Select a supported ingest codec and a resolution, frame rate and bitrate that fit the upload you measured. YouTube documents H.264, H.265 and AV1 ingest; its recommended bitrates depend on output settings. For H.264 reference points, it recommends 3 Mbps at 720p/30 fps and 5 Mbps at 1080p/30 fps. Use YouTube’s current encoder table for the complete settings applicable to your selected output.
- Run an unlisted or private test and inspect stream health. Test for a representative period, including the times when household traffic is usually highest. Watch YouTube’s stream-health indicators and encoder errors. A successful short test cannot establish that the connection will remain stable around the clock, but it can expose an unsuitable bitrate or configuration before a public launch.
- Go live only after checking rights. Confirm the permissions for every audio and visual element before public streaming. See the copyright section below.
Clear music and visual rights before streaming
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including copyrighted content, and says it may interrupt or terminate a stream when such content is detected. An active live-stream copyright strike is also among the restrictions YouTube lists. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and its live-stream restrictions.

For every track, loop, sample, animation and other visual, check that the actual license permits continuous YouTube livestreaming and, if you plan to monetize, monetized use. “Royalty-free” alone does not establish those permissions. Keep copies of licenses and any relevant written permissions so you can document your rights if a claim or interruption occurs.
Prepare for JioFiber, equipment and power interruptions
- Prefer wired Ethernet where practical. It avoids adding Wi-Fi variability between the encoder and router, though it cannot prevent an ISP-side disruption.
- Keep the encoder available. Prevent sleep settings and disruptive updates from stopping the computer during a stream, and keep a clear procedure for checking and restarting the encoder.
- Plan for premises power loss. Jio’s detailed terms place electricity, alternative power arrangements and related equipment at the premises under the customer’s responsibility. A UPS sized for the actual load can help through a short local power interruption. Its runtime depends on the equipment connected and it cannot fix a JioFiber network outage.
- Assess any backup connection independently. If you consider mobile data or another ISP as failover, test it at the intended bitrate and check that connection’s data allowances and terms. Do not assume it can carry the stream just because it works for ordinary browsing.
Will YouTube save a 24-hour livestream?
Do not rely on YouTube to preserve a single complete 24-hour archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its guidance states: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” See YouTube’s archive guidance.

If an archive matters, plan shorter sessions and test your end-and-restart process; the guidance does not establish a guaranteed way to create one uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast and a complete single archive. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording backup. Estimate storage from your recording bitrate and duration, and confirm that the computer has enough disk space before starting.

Common problems and what to check
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube reports a weak or unstable stream | The selected bitrate is too close to dependable upload capacity, or other devices are consuming bandwidth. | Lower the bitrate or output resolution, reduce competing network use, and repeat an unlisted test while monitoring stream health. |
| The stream stops when the computer or router loses power | The encoder or network equipment has no power, or its backup runs out. | Check power to each device. If using a UPS, size it for the measured load and desired runtime; it cannot cover an upstream ISP outage. |
| The stream ends during a JioFiber disruption | The connection between the encoder and YouTube has been interrupted. | Check JioFiber connectivity, then follow your encoder’s restart procedure and verify stream health. Consider tested failover only after checking the alternate service’s performance and terms. |
| YouTube interrupts or restricts the broadcast | Detected third-party content or a live-stream restriction, among other possible causes. | Review YouTube’s notice and restrictions, resolve the rights or account issue, and do not resume content unless you have the necessary permissions. |
| A 24-hour session has no complete YouTube archive | YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. | Use shorter planned sessions if YouTube archiving is important and maintain a local recording backup with adequate storage. |
Estimate costs and data use before committing
A DIY setup may use a computer and existing network equipment, but the computer must remain on and the local connection and power must stay available. A UPS can cover some short premises power interruptions; it is not an alternative to a working ISP connection. No specific computer, encoder or UPS model is established as necessary here, so size any purchase to your actual workload, connected equipment and required runtime.
Estimate data use from the encoder’s total bitrate and actual operating time, then include household usage when checking your plan conditions. A 24/7 stream continuously sends data, so monthly consumption can be material. Jio’s published 3300 GB thresholds and conditions are described above; they do not establish a universal allowance for commercial or monetized continuous broadcasting. Confirm the current terms for your plan directly with Jio.
