You can bring back older Google branding with a browser extension, but the right choice depends on what you want to change: the Google Search logo, Workspace app icons, favicons, or a wider set of pages. The extensions below advertise different scopes; their listings are not independent proof of security, compatibility, or faithful historical accuracy. Check the current store listing before installing.
Choose an extension for the Google logos you want to change
Google Search and Google Workspace are separate cases. An extension that changes the Search logo may not change Gmail or Drive icons, and a Workspace icon extension may not affect Search. Read each listing for the exact sites and elements it says it supports.

Check the listing before installing
Extension features and compatibility can change. On the current Chrome Web Store page, check the supported sites, requested permissions, privacy disclosures, version, and most recent update date. A developer’s statement that data is not collected is a disclosure, not an independent audit. The available evidence does not establish an independently audited extension or reliable support across major browsers.
- Match scope to your goal: Search logo, Workspace app icons, favicons, or broad page restyling.
- Review permissions: Consider whether the access requested makes sense for the pages the extension says it modifies.
- Read privacy and update details: Treat these as information supplied by the developer, not an external security review.
- Recheck availability and compatibility: Listings and browser behavior may change after publication.
What Google’s extension branding guidance says
Chrome for Developers says: “Don’t use Google trademarks or a modified version of a Google trademark as the logo for your extension without written permission from Google.” This guidance concerns branding an extension; it is not, by itself, a legal determination about a person’s private on-screen customization.
