Restart your S22 when the screen responds
Use either of these routes to open the power menu. The available Quick Settings layout and menu labels can vary with software version and device configuration.
- Quick Settings: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, then tap the power icon.
- Buttons: Press and hold the Side button and Volume down button together until the power menu appears.
When the power menu opens, tap Restart, then tap Restart again to confirm. Samsung’s [restart instructions] describe these ways to reach the power options.
Force restart a frozen or unresponsive S22
If the touchscreen does not respond or you cannot open the power menu, press and hold the Side and Volume down buttons together for more than seven seconds. The screen may go black; wait for the Samsung logo to appear as the phone restarts. Samsung gives this procedure in its [Galaxy S22 series user manual] for a frozen, unresponsive device.

If the S22 will not turn back on
Charge it before trying again
If the battery may be depleted, connect the phone to a compatible charger and leave it charging for several minutes before retrying. If the phone still will not turn off or restart after the button procedure, or remains unresponsive after charging, contact Samsung support or request service. Samsung recommends support or service when a Galaxy device will not turn off: [Samsung troubleshooting guidance].
