If Copilot and another app are separate windows, use Windows Snap and drag the divider between them. If you mean the web-content pane inside the Copilot app, Microsoft’s current instructions describe that pane but do not document a separate resize control for it. The steps depend on which interface you have.
Resize Copilot beside another app with Windows Snap
These steps change the widths of two separate windows. Microsoft says the adjoining snapped window adjusts to fit when you drag their divider. Microsoft’s Snap guide also explains that layout choices can vary with display size.
- Open Copilot and the other app you want to use beside it.
- Arrange the windows with Snap: drag one to a screen edge, press Windows key plus an arrow key, or press Windows key+Z to open Snap layouts and choose a layout.
- Locate the boundary between the two snapped windows. Hover over or select the edge until the resize bar or double-arrow cursor appears.
- Drag the divider toward the window you want to make narrower. The other snapped window adjusts to fill the remaining space.
If you mean the pane inside the Copilot app
Microsoft’s current Getting started with Copilot on Windows documentation describes the Copilot app and says that links open in a side pane next to the conversation. It does not document an independent resize control for that in-app web pane. The Snap method above applies to separate windows; it does not establish that the boundary inside Copilot can be dragged.
Why older resize instructions may not match
Microsoft’s February 29, 2024 announcement about Copilot Preview said that its pane could be docked, undocked, and resized. That announcement describes an earlier interface and is not confirmation that the same pane or controls are available in the current Copilot app. Check which Copilot interface is on screen before following instructions written for the older Preview pane.
