Reset the Xbox app in Windows Settings

Close the Xbox app.

Open Settings.

Go to the installed-apps list: Apps > Installed apps in Windows 11, or Apps > Apps & features in Windows 10.

Find Xbox, open its menu, and select Advanced options, if that option is available.

Select Repair first if you are troubleshooting and see the option. Microsoft describes Repair as fixing app issues without losing app data.

If Repair is unavailable or does not fix the problem, select Reset. This returns the app to its default state and may remove app data.
The labels and options can vary by Windows version and app. Microsoft notes that Advanced options, Repair, and Reset are not available for every app. See Microsoft’s Windows app repair and reset instructions.

What Reset changes—and what it does not establish
Repair and Reset apply to the app. Microsoft’s description says Repair is intended to preserve app data; Reset restores the app’s default state and may remove app data. The guidance does not specify exactly which Xbox app data a reset removes.
That guidance also does not say that resetting the Xbox app deletes a particular game’s save, restarts its progress, or changes a cloud-synced save. Treat app troubleshooting and game-save deletion as different actions; do not assume one performs the other.

If you want to start one game over
Look up the official support instructions for that specific game before deleting save files. The way a game stores and syncs saves can vary, and the cited Microsoft app guidance does not provide a universal method for clearing an individual PC game’s save or explain how its local and cloud saves interact. Confirm what will be removed before taking any save-deletion step.
If the Xbox app still has a problem
Microsoft’s general Microsoft Store app troubleshooting sequence includes closing and reopening the app, checking for Windows and Store updates, using Repair or Reset, and reinstalling when appropriate. Gaming Services errors are a separate case
Microsoft documents a Gaming Services removal-and-reinstall workaround for the specific Windows 10 errors 0x80073D26 and 0x8007139F when installing or starting games. That article dates to 2021 and is limited to those errors; it is not a general method for resetting game data. See Microsoft KB5004327.
