To reset Microsoft Edge on desktop, open Settings and more (…) > Settings > Reset settings > Restore settings to their default values, review the confirmation dialog, then select Reset. Check the dialog in your installed version before confirming: Microsoft Community guidance describes possible changes, but the available official Microsoft documentation does not establish a definitive list of everything this reset changes or preserves.
Reset Edge settings on a desktop computer

In Edge, select Settings and more (…) in the upper-right corner, then select Settings.

Open Reset settings and select Restore settings to their default values.

Read the confirmation dialog shown by your installed version of Edge. If you want to proceed, select Reset.

These labels come from Microsoft Community support guidance, and wording or placement may vary by Edge version. The confirmation dialog is the immediate reference for the action you are about to take. Microsoft Community: Reset Edge browser to default settings.
What Edge’s settings reset may change
A Microsoft Community reply reports that restoring defaults resets the startup page, new tab page, search engine, and pinned tabs; turns off extensions; and clears temporary data such as cookies. This is community guidance, not a current official Microsoft specification, so treat it as a description of reported effects rather than a guarantee. Review the confirmation dialog before proceeding. The available official sources do not settle whether this reset preserves or deletes favorites, browsing history, or saved passwords. Community replies conflict, so do not rely on an assumption about those items. If retaining any of them is important, pause and check the dialog and your sync status before resetting.
Reset settings or clear selected browsing data?
These are separate actions. Restoring default settings is intended for changed browser preferences. If your goal is to remove specific browsing data, Edge provides category and time-range controls instead.

To clear selected data, go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Clear browsing data, choose the time range and categories, then use the available clear-data control. Microsoft notes that with sync on, deleting synced data can affect other devices using that sync account; check sync status and the selected categories before clearing. Microsoft Support: View and delete browser history in Microsoft Edge and Microsoft Support: Sign in to sync Microsoft Edge across devices.
If you are resetting Edge to fix a problem
A settings reset is one option, not a guaranteed fix for crashes, slow pages, or connection failures. Microsoft also lists other troubleshooting steps; choose those that fit the symptom rather than changing unrelated settings.

Pages fail to load: check network settings and security software, and try clearing cached data.

Edge behaves differently after adding an extension: disable extensions and see whether the problem changes.

General browser trouble: update Edge and restart the browser or device.

If you want a different address-bar search provider, use Settings > Privacy, search, and services > Search and connected services > Address bar and search, then choose the provider or options available in your version of Edge. Microsoft Support: Change your default search engine in Microsoft Edge.
