To report a scam or deceptive impersonation on Discord, use the in-app report option on the specific message that shows the behavior. Discord’s guidance asks for that message—not just the server name—so the report identifies what happened. If you clicked a suspicious link or think someone accessed your account, secure or recover the account separately.
Report the message that shows the scam or impersonation
- Open the server and find the message that demonstrates the deceptive or harmful behavior. Discord directs users to report the specific message where impersonation takes place: Discord’s impersonation guidance.
- Select or open the message’s options, choose Report Message, then choose the type of abuse that best fits. Discord describes this general flow in its compromised-account help article. Labels and menus may change, so follow the current in-app prompts if they differ.
- Submit the report with the information requested by Discord. If you can copy a message link, keep it with your evidence. Discord’s parent and guardian guidance explains that a message link can be copied by holding the message on iOS or Android, or by right-clicking it on desktop. That guidance is written for parents and guardians; for other reports, use the current prompts in Discord.
Reporting the specific message makes the conduct visible to reviewers. Don’t assume that reporting only a server name or a user profile communicates what happened.

Choose the right kind of help
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| A message in a server falsely claims to represent a person, group, organization, or Discord | Report the specific message through the in-app reporting flow. |
| You may have entered your password, shared a token, or lost access to your account | Take account-security and recovery steps as well as reporting the message. Use Discord’s compromised-account support guidance. |
| You own a trademark and believe it is being used commercially or misleadingly | Use Discord’s trademark complaint route and provide evidence of the commercial or misleading use. A similar name or word alone is not automatically trademark infringement under Discord’s guidance. |
If you clicked a link or suspect your account was compromised
Stop engaging with the suspected scammer. Reporting abusive content does not secure an account, so take these steps separately:
- Reset your Discord password.
- Enable multi-factor authentication.
- Review authorized apps and remove any you do not recognize.
- If you use Windows, Discord’s guidance also recommends running a Windows Defender scan.
- If you cannot access the account or need help recovering it, follow Discord’s compromised-account support route.
Recognize suspicious “Discord support” messages
Do not trust unsolicited messages asking for personal information, payment, or credential changes. Discord states: “Discord will never ask you for your password or account token.” You can also check Discord’s official-message guidance: genuine Discord messages carry an OFFICIAL badge in the member list and in the DM, and an official-message notice appears at the start of the conversation. They cannot be answered through the normal chat input.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Keep reports accurate
Report content that violates Discord’s rules, and describe the specific message or conduct. Discord warns against false or malicious reports, duplicate reports about the same issue, and asking a group to report the same content. Repeated violations may result in losing access to reporting functions. If the same scam appears in several messages, use the reporting flow for the relevant evidence rather than coordinating mass reports.
