Nextdoor has offered in-app appeals for removed content since 2022 and expanded appeals to account suspensions in October 2023. Its current reporting and blocking screens, however, are not verified here, so use the controls and guidance currently shown in your app rather than relying on guessed button names or steps.
Choose the action that matches your goal
| Action | Purpose | Who takes it |
|---|---|---|
| Report content | Ask Nextdoor to review a post or comment. | A member who sees the content. |
| Block a member | Manage your exposure to or interaction with that member. The exact effects of blocking are not established by the available official guidance. | The member who wants to limit contact or visibility. |
| Appeal | Ask for review of a moderation decision, or challenge a decision to keep reported content up. | The person whose content was moderated, or the person who reported content they believe was wrongly upheld. |
How to report a Nextdoor post or comment
The current post- or comment-reporting sequence, including button labels and menu locations, is not verified. Open the controls attached to the specific content and follow the reporting prompts presented in your current app or the official Nextdoor Help Center. Do not assume that instructions for reporting a group apply to a post or comment; those are separate actions.
The sources available do not establish which report reasons are offered, whether the person who posted the content is told who reported it, or how quickly Nextdoor reviews a report. No current official response-time figure is established.
How to block a Nextdoor member
The current steps and consequences for blocking or unblocking a member are not verified. Consult the app’s current controls or Nextdoor Help Center before acting. In particular, do not assume blocking stops every message, hides every post, sends or suppresses a notification to the other person, or can be reversed from a particular screen.

How Nextdoor appeals moderation decisions
Nextdoor’s 2024 proxy statement describes the feature’s expansion: in-app appeals for content removed through community moderation began in 2022; the company said it expanded in-app appeals to account suspensions in October 2023. It also said people who reported content could appeal when they believed it had been wrongly kept on the platform. See Nextdoor’s 2024 proxy statement.
Nextdoor’s 2023 SEC filing described the content-removal notice and appeal process this way: “Neighbors were notified if their post or comment was removed via community moderation, with insight into which guideline it violated and a chance to appeal the decision by submitting the same content or an edited version for additional review.” This is the company’s description of its process in that filing, not confirmation of today’s screens or instructions. To pursue an appeal, use the appeal option and instructions provided in the current notice or in-app flow, if available for your case. The current location of that option, eligible enforcement types, accepted submission formats, review time, and any regional or app-version differences are not established here. Do not assume every moderation action is appealable.

Nextdoor’s 2023 filing says that 6.5% of the content moderation decisions in the filing’s described scope were appealed, and 11.4% of those appeals were successful. These are historical, company-reported figures about community-moderation decisions; they are not current rates, a forecast, or an estimate of the likelihood that any individual appeal will succeed.
