Start with Meshy’s Print → Analyze Printability check, then use Repair Printability if it flags a problem. The analysis is free; repair costs 10 credits, accepts GLB, STL, and OBJ files up to 100 MB, and removes existing textures. After any repair, check the mesh again and inspect the slicer preview—an operation labeled “repair” does not guarantee a printable result.
What holes and non-manifold geometry mean
A hole is an open boundary in the surface. A print-oriented solid generally needs a closed, watertight surface so the slicer can determine which areas are inside and outside. Non-manifold geometry is a different kind of topology problem: parts of the mesh may be connected in a way that does not form a valid solid boundary. A model can also have defects that are not simply holes or non-manifold edges, including self-intersections, degenerate faces, inconsistent face directions, or walls that are too thin.
Meshy’s printability analysis checks watertightness, non-manifold edges, holes or boundary loops, and degenerate faces. Its Blender analysis covers additional issues such as intersections, non-planar faces, and thickness. Treat the specific findings as a repair guide rather than assuming every visible or slicer-reported problem has the same cause.
Use Meshy’s built-in printability repair
- Select the model: Open the model in the Meshy workspace.
- Run the diagnostic: Open Print and select Analyze Printability. Meshy reports checks as Healthy, Warning, or Error. The Help Center describes this analysis as free.
- Repair flagged issues: Start Repair Printability from the analysis results. Meshy states that the operation costs 10 credits and runs in the background. Its Help Center lists GLB, STL, and OBJ inputs up to 100 MB and says the output retains the input format.
- Inspect the result: Reopen or download the repaired file, examine the affected areas, and run the printability check again if available. Confirm the slicer can interpret the model as intended before replacing the original.

Protect textured work
Meshy warns that changing geometry invalidates UV maps, so Repair Printability removes existing textures. Keep an untouched copy of the original, especially if you need its appearance as well as its geometry. Meshy says you can apply AI Texturing after repair, but inspect the repaired geometry first and decide whether rebuilding the textures is acceptable.
Repair and verify with Meshy for Blender
If you already work in Blender, Meshy’s plugin provides analysis and a Make Manifold cleanup operation. Its documented workflow is to analyze first, clean up, and then run the checks again. The cleanup may alter geometry, so compare the result against the original and review its report of changed vertex, edge, and face counts.

- Analyze before cleanup: Use Meshy for Blender’s model-analysis checks to identify problems such as solidity, intersections, degenerate geometry, non-planar faces, and thickness.
- Run the cleanup: Choose Clean Up → Make Manifold. Meshy documents the operation as removing loose geometry and interior faces, merging duplicate vertices within a threshold, filling holes, fixing non-manifold edges and vertices, and making normals consistent.
- Re-run analysis: Check whether the flagged defects were resolved. Meshy’s cleanup guidance explicitly calls for checks after cleaning; inspect any remaining intersections, thin areas, or other warnings instead of assuming the operation fixed them all.

Troubleshoot what remains after repair
Holes or non-manifold edges remain
Run the analysis again and use the reported boundary or non-manifold findings to guide the next pass. In Blender, inspect the affected geometry and repeat relevant checks after cleanup. The goal is to confirm watertightness and resolve the flagged topology—not merely to complete a repair operation.
The model still fails in the slicer
Check whether the slicer issue is an open surface, an intersection, or another defect. Meshy treats self-intersections as a separate analysis check; intersecting surfaces may need a Boolean Union or repair tool. For a visible failure, inspect the slicer preview to see whether walls, infill, and top and bottom layers appear as expected.

The model looks closed but may be too thin
A visually closed surface can still lack usable thickness. Use the thickness check where available and assess the result at the model’s actual scale and for the intended printer. There is no universal wall-thickness value that suits every model and printer.

The print is hollow
Do not assume a hollow print proves the mesh still has holes. Check mesh integrity, then review slicer settings such as infill: Meshy notes that 0% infill can produce a hollow print even when the symptom appears after a model repair. Remeshing or automatic repair did not solve it
Meshy says remeshing can address many common topology issues, but heavy floating geometry or deep intersections may still require manual cleanup. Return to the specific analysis findings and remove or correct problem areas rather than repeatedly applying an automatic pass without checking its output. - Run printability or mesh checks after the last geometry change.
- Confirm the relevant watertightness, hole, and non-manifold findings are clear; review intersections, degenerate geometry, and thickness when flagged.
- Inspect the slicer preview for the intended walls, infill, and top and bottom layers, and confirm that hollow output is not explained by a slicer setting.
- Keep the original file if the repair changed geometry or removed textures.
Meshy’s cited guidance is vendor documentation, not a guarantee that every generated model can be repaired automatically. The interface, credit cost, file limits, and plugin behavior may change.
