To remove a watermark from a Samsung photo you already took, open the image in Samsung Gallery and try Object Eraser. Select or mark the watermark, tap Erase, then inspect and save the result as a copy if that option is available. Samsung’s Camera watermark setting only controls future photos; it cannot undo a mark already applied.
Remove the watermark with Object Eraser
Samsung’s US Gallery guidance describes Object Eraser as a tool that removes unwanted details and fills the area they occupied. Using it on a watermark is a practical application of that general editing feature, not a guarantee that every mark will disappear cleanly. The result depends on what lies behind the text or logo.
- Open the original. In Samsung Gallery, select the photo you want to edit.
- Open the editor. Tap Edit. Depending on your Galaxy model and software, Object Eraser may be under the Intelligence features icon (three stars) or the rightmost four-circles icon.
- Select Object Eraser. Tap or draw around the watermark. Include the full mark, but avoid selecting nearby details you want to preserve.
- Erase and inspect. Tap Erase. Check the filled area at normal size and zoom in to look for smudges, repeated textures, or damage to nearby edges. If needed, try a smaller selection or undo the edit.
- Save a copy if available. Keep the untouched original so you can compare versions or revert if the fill looks worse than the watermark.
Why the Camera setting cannot remove an existing mark
The Camera watermark option is not an undo control. Samsung support pages in India and Saudi Arabia state that a watermark already applied through the camera feature cannot be deleted or removed through that setting. That does not mean Gallery cannot edit the visible pixels; Object Eraser is a separate editing approach.
To prevent watermarks on later photos, open Camera > Settings > Watermark and turn the option off. This changes the camera’s future behavior; it does not alter pictures you already took.

Find Object Eraser if your menus look different
Samsung’s US instructions do not show one universal path. Its A-series editing guide places Object Eraser under Edit and the rightmost four-circles icon, while the US Galaxy A27 5G guide uses Gallery’s Intelligence features icon. The A-series guide lists the feature for Galaxy A26 5G, A36 5G, and A56 5G; that list should not be treated as a complete compatibility list for every Galaxy phone.
Menu names, locations, and feature availability can vary by model, software version, and Gallery app version. If you cannot find Object Eraser, check the editing tools available on your phone and whether its software and Gallery app are up to date. Samsung’s A27 guidance says Galaxy AI photo editing on that model requires a Samsung account login and an internet connection; that condition should not be assumed to apply to every Object Eraser version.

Choose between erasing and cropping
If the watermark sits right on the edge, cropping may remove it without reconstructing the background. Samsung’s US A-series editing guide documents Gallery’s crop tool. Cropping is predictable, but it removes part of the frame and can change the image’s composition and dimensions. Use it only if the lost area does not matter.
For a mark over the middle of the photo, Object Eraser may preserve more of the framing, but its fill can leave visible artifacts—especially where the watermark crosses a face, patterned surface, or other detailed content. Compare the edited image with the original before deciding which version to keep.
