If symptoms start, stop playing and take a break away from the screen. On a later attempt, you can test other camera settings or a fixed visual marker one at a time; none is a guaranteed fix.
What to do when symptoms start
Pause or quit the game and step away from the moving image if you begin to feel unwell. Cleveland Clinic advises stepping away from video or VR games when nausea or other virtual motion sickness symptoms occur. Nintendo’s health guidance says to stop playing and consult a doctor if discomfort continues.
Do not keep playing while you feel sick just to test a setting. Once you feel well, you can make a change before a later session and see whether it helps.
Turn off motion blur first
Open the game’s settings and look in Display, Graphics, Camera, or Accessibility for a motion blur control. Set it to zero or Off if available. The label and location vary by game, and some games provide separate controls for different types of blur.

- 【INTEGRATED SPEAKERS】Whether you're at work or in the midst of an intense gaming session, our built-in speakers provide rich and seamless audio, all while keeping your desk clutter-free.
- 【EASY ON THE EYES】 Protect your eyes and enhance your comfort with Blue-Light Shift technology. This feature reduces harmful blue light emissions from your screen, helping to alleviate eye strain during long hours of use and promoting healthier viewing habits.
- 【WIDEN YOUR PERSPECTIVE】Our sleek minimal bezel design ensures undivided attention. The nearly bezel-free display seamlessly connects in a dual monitor arrangement, delivering an unobstructed view that lets you focus on more at once, completely distraction-free.
For example, EA’s Battlefield 6 Accessibility Resources documents separate weapon and world motion-blur controls, each adjustable from 0 to 100. Those controls and values apply to Battlefield 6; they are not a standard shared by all games.
Test other camera and visual-motion settings
If symptoms continue on a later attempt, change one relevant setting at a time so you can tell whether the change makes a difference. Only adjust options your game actually provides.

- QHD Resolution (2560 x 1440) has 1.7 times the pixel density of Full HD for incredibly detailed pinsharp images
- HDR10 provides brighter highlights and nuanced shadow for added depth - making every scene feel more vivid and realistic
- The 180Hz refresh rate minimizes lag for gameplay with ultra-smooth action. Plus, the 1ms response time helps capture your moves in real-time, allowing you to react fast for gaming precision
- AMD FreeSync reduces choppiness, screen lag and image tearing, ensuring that your fast-paced, complex in-game action is stable with minimal stutter
- Ergonomic stand allows for tilt, pivot and height adjustments to maximize gaming comfort
- Camera shake: Reduce or disable it to limit screen movement caused by events such as impacts or explosions. EA says Split Fiction’s camera-shake option removes involuntary camera movements that could cause motion sickness for some users; that description is specific to the game.
- Camera bob: If available, reduce or disable movement associated with walking or sprinting. Battlefield 6 documents a sprint-bobbing toggle.
- Field of view (FOV): Try a different value if the game has an FOV slider. Battlefield 6 documents a range of 85–120, but that range belongs to that game and does not identify an ideal value for every player.
- Other visual effects: Some games offer controls such as chromatic aberration or camera sensitivity. EA documents such options in particular games; their availability and effect vary.
EA’s Battlefield 6 guide also lists camera-shake values from 50 to 150. Dragon Age: The Veilguard documents motion blur, camera shake, FOV, and a persistent-dot option, while Split Fiction documents camera shake and a persistent dot. These are examples of settings to look for, not universal menu instructions.
Try a stable visual reference if the game offers one
A persistent dot or projected crosshair can provide a fixed point on the screen while the scene moves. EA describes a persistent dot in Split Fiction and a projected crosshair in Battlefield 2042 as options intended to help reduce or prevent motion sickness for some players. Try one if offered, but treat it as an experiment rather than a promise of relief.

For details on the projected crosshair, see EA’s Battlefield 2042 Accessibility PS5 resource. Split Fiction’s accessibility information is in EA’s Split Fiction Accessibility Resources.
Why settings may help—and why results vary
The NHS explains that motion sickness can involve a mismatch between what the eyes see and what the inner ear senses. Its advice to reduce motion and look at a fixed point is general motion-sickness guidance, not a test of motion-blur settings in games. The NHS also advises avoiding electronic devices when experiencing motion sickness, which supports resting away from the moving image rather than pushing through symptoms. See the NHS motion sickness guidance.

Game makers expose different controls and describe their intended functions in different ways. Official accessibility resources document options, but they do not establish that blur alone caused a particular person’s symptoms, rank settings by effectiveness, or prove that any one change will resolve them. Track whether your symptoms improve after a change, and stop if they return.

Stop playing if you feel unwell. If discomfort continues after you stop, recurs, or otherwise concerns you, seek medical advice; Nintendo specifically recommends consulting a doctor when game-related discomfort continues. Its guidance is published for Nintendo 3DS, so treat it as safety advice rather than a diagnosis for symptoms from any particular game. See Nintendo’s health and safety precautions.
