Redeem a gaming gift card through the official store or account flow for the platform named on it, while signed in to the account where you want the credit or content. Check the card’s platform and region first: a wallet card adds funds, while a game or add-on code grants specific content. Redemption steps vary by platform.
Before you enter the code
- Check the platform. A PlayStation voucher, Microsoft/Xbox code, Steam Wallet code, and Nintendo eShop download code use different redemption routes.
- Sign in to the intended account. Redeemed funds or content are generally attached to the account used during redemption; you may not be able to move them to another account afterward. - Compare the region. A voucher may be limited to an account or store country. PlayStation requires the voucher region to match the account, and Nintendo requires the eShop region to match the game’s region. PlayStation · Nintendo
- Identify what the card buys. A wallet gift card adds store balance; a game, add-on, in-game item, or season-pass code grants a particular entitlement instead. The steps below apply to the platform and code type stated on your card.
Redeem a PlayStation Store card or voucher
PlayStation’s cited instructions cover Canada and describe redemption on the web, PS5, PS4, and PlayStation App. A PlayStation Store gift card adds funds to the wallet; other voucher types can provide games, add-ons, in-game content, or season passes.

- Web: Open PlayStation Store, select the profile menu, choose Redeem Code, enter the voucher, then continue.
- PS5: Open the PlayStation Store menu and choose Redeem Code.
- PS4: Open PlayStation Store and select Redeem Codes in the sidebar.
- PlayStation App: Open the PS Store icon and use its menu to find the redemption option.
The cited PlayStation page specifies a 12-digit code, usable once, and says the voucher region must match the account region. Physical vouchers show a country or region flag. See PlayStation’s redemption instructions.
Redeem a Microsoft or Xbox gift card
Microsoft and Xbox gift cards, download codes, and tokens are redeemed to a Microsoft account. Sign in to the account that should receive the balance or content, then enter or paste the code through Microsoft’s redemption flow. The balance can be spent in Microsoft Store online, on Windows, or on Xbox, subject to country and product limitations. Microsoft’s redemption guidance.

The US Microsoft Store product page describes a 25-character Xbox gift-card code redeemed at microsoft.com/redeem after signing in. Its eligibility and limitations vary by region, device, and time, so do not assume the same details apply to every country. If you bought the wrong code, Microsoft advises contacting the retailer. Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code
Sign in to the Steam account where you want the balance, then use Steam’s Redeem a Steam Gift Card or Wallet Code page and enter the code. Steam says the code’s value is converted to the currency of your Steam Wallet upon redemption, regardless of where the card was purchased. Steam Wallet redemption.

This wallet guidance is distinct from restrictions that can apply to specific region-restricted game gifts or keys. Do not treat those restrictions as a blanket rule for every wallet card, and do not use a proxy or VPN to disguise your location for a restricted gift.
Redeem a Nintendo eShop download code
Nintendo’s cited instructions cover the Americas. On the Nintendo Switch, open Nintendo eShop, select the account that should receive the content, enter the 16-digit download code, and confirm redemption. The eShop country follows the Nintendo Account country setting, and the code must match the game’s region: for example, an Americas code will not work in an eShop set to Japan. For the covered retailer download codes for games or downloadable content, Nintendo says the codes do not expire. A game code can still fail if the game has not yet been released; consult Nintendo’s troubleshooting guidance for that case. Nintendo Support.

- Redemption: Online
- Confirm platform and code type. Make sure you are using the store named on the card and the correct flow for wallet credit versus game or add-on content.
- Check the account and region. Verify you are signed in to the intended account and that its country or store region is compatible with the code. Platform rules differ; check the applicable official guidance above.
- Re-enter the code carefully. Check for transposed characters and look-alikes. Steam specifically calls out commonly confused characters such as zero and the letter O.
- Allow for retailer activation when relevant. Steam says activation of a newly purchased retail wallet code can take several hours. Keep the receipt; this timing note is specific to Steam Wallet codes. Steam Wallet code troubleshooting.
- Check release timing. A Nintendo download code may return an error if the game is not yet released.
- If redemption succeeded but content is missing, refresh the account or console. PlayStation suggests restarting the console and checking again, or signing out and back in to the account that redeemed the voucher. PlayStation troubleshooting.
- Escalate through the official channel. Follow the platform’s support instructions; for a wrong Microsoft/Xbox code, contact the retailer. Steam may request a clear image of the full back of the wallet code and the matching receipt, while receipt-printed codes require retailer assistance. Never post a full unredeemed code publicly or send it through an untrusted channel.
