Before folding your phone, check the inner screen and hinge area for grit, crumbs, or anything trapped between the halves. Then close it gently—without forcing the hinge—and keep sharp objects and excess pressure away from the flexible display. These simple habits match care guidance from Samsung, Google, and Motorola.
Check the screen and hinge before closing the phone
Look across the inner display and around the hinge for sand, dirt, crumbs, or objects before folding the phone. A card, coin, or key caught between the halves can damage a screen; fine particles can also be a concern. Samsung, Google, and Motorola all warn against closing a foldable with debris or objects in the fold.
Remove visible debris without poking into the hinge or scrubbing it. Manufacturer guidance recommends gentle cleaning rather than invasive hinge cleaning.
Handle the inner display as a flexible, softer surface
A foldable inner display is not a conventional rigid phone screen. Google warns that flexible screens are softer than traditional phone screens and advises keeping sand, crumbs, fingernails, and sharp objects away from the display. Samsung and Motorola also caution against hard or sharp objects and excessive pressure.

Do not peel back or remove the preinstalled inner-screen protector as if it were an ordinary removable film. Google says not to remove it or apply a third-party protector. Samsung does not recommend user removal and directs owners to authorized service for replacement.
