For now, keep the game current and watch Bethesda’s official Fallout 76 news rather than grinding for items or levels that may not be needed.
What is Raven Rock in Fallout 76?
Raven Rock is an announced map expansion that will push Fallout 76 toward the Capital Wasteland in the southeast. Bethesda’s September 30, 2026 directors’ letter describes its story as a “cold war” between two derelict Enclave operators. The setting is almost 200 years before Fallout 3 and precedes the Lone Wanderer’s journey; Bethesda has not given an exact in-universe calendar year.

How can you prepare while waiting?
Keep Fallout 76 updated and follow official announcements
Keep the game installed and current on your platform, then check Bethesda’s official Fallout 76 news for information about launch timing, access, and other player-facing details. Bethesda’s current platform list includes Steam, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Platform availability for Raven Rock itself has not been detailed in the announcement.

Play current activities only if you want to
You can keep playing the live game to stay engaged, but no existing activity has been identified as Raven Rock preparation. For example, Bethesda’s June 2026 notes describe Infestations as challenging encounters for experienced dwellers, recommend an Exploration Public Team when searching for them, and promise a guaranteed four-star legendary weapon or armor piece for defeating the boss. Those instructions apply to Infestations, not to entering Raven Rock.
Wait for confirmed requirements before changing your build or inventory
The announcement does not require a particular character level, build, quest, faction reputation, weapon, armor set, stash quantity, or crafting supply. There is no announced reason to farm a specific item or complete a particular quest for Raven Rock. Avoid treating speculative checklists as official requirements.

When is Raven Rock coming to Fallout 76?
Bethesda’s September 30, 2026 roadmap says Raven Rock is “Coming next year,” which points to 2027. It does not specify a month, season, or launch day, so a more precise date is not confirmed.

- A recommended character level, build, or required gear.
- Raven Rock’s price or whether it will be free.

Bethesda has described earlier updates, including Burning Springs, as free, but that precedent does not establish Raven Rock’s price. Likewise, the announcement’s lack of a stated requirement is not confirmation that none will exist; wait for explicit Raven Rock instructions.
