The steps below are for standard Among Us, not Among Us VR.
Choose how you want friends to join

How to host a private lobby and share its code
- Open Play > Online > Create Game. Choose the game options, such as mode, map, player limit, server, and chat settings. In the newer matchmaking flow, review and confirm your selections before the room is created.
- Make the lobby private. In the lobby, use the lobby control to change its status from Public to Private.
- Send the code to your friends. Share the six-letter code displayed in the lobby.
To join, each friend opens Play > Online > Enter Code, enters the code, checks the host and lobby details shown by the game, then selects Join Lobby. The current code-entry flow can handle region and chat-type changes when the account has the necessary permissions; players do not generally need to change those settings manually first. A lobby set to Free Chat still requires permission to use Free Chat.
How to invite friends from the Friends List
The Friends List lets players connect using unique friend codes and invite connected friends to a lobby. Open the Friends List in-game, choose the friend, and send a lobby invitation. The feature also supports friend requests and controls for blocking players, hiding or showing your own code, and managing lobby-invite notifications.

If an invite does not appear, check the Friend & Lobby Invites notification setting. A recipient may have notifications turned off. Child accounts may also need parent or guardian permission to use the Friends List.
Can friends on different platforms play together?
Yes. Standard Among Us supports crossplay among mobile, console, and PC. However, standard Among Us and Among Us VR are incompatible, so everyone must use the same edition. See Innersloth’s crossplay guidance.

Troubleshoot common joining problems
The lobby code does not work
- Re-enter the six-character code and check for typing errors.
- Review the host and lobby details displayed after entering the code to make sure you have the intended room.
- Ask the host to confirm the lobby is still open and the code has not changed.
- Confirm everyone is using standard Among Us, not Among Us VR.
A friend cannot join a Free Chat lobby
Check whether the friend’s account is allowed to use Free Chat. Child accounts may be limited to Quick Chat unless a parent or guardian permits otherwise. See the Among Us privacy policy for account-related information.
Online play or communication is blocked on a console
Console parental controls can restrict multiplayer or communication, and incompatible host and player settings can prevent joining. Ask the account holder or a parent or guardian to review the console’s controls. Innersloth has guidance for age restriction issues on PlayStation and Xbox.

A Friends List invitation is missing
Check whether Friend & Lobby Invites notifications are enabled and whether the recipient’s account has permission to use the Friends List.
