How to find and play Spotify Music Quiz
- Update the Spotify app. Install the latest version available for your device.
- Play a track by an artist with a quiz. Music Quiz is tied to participating artists, so not every song or artist will lead to a quiz.
- Open Now Playing and scroll down. Look for the Music Quiz card below the playback area and tap it.
- Answer the questions. Spotify describes questions about music trivia, album-cover art, and identifying a song from an audio preview, drawing on the artist’s catalog, career milestones, and defining moments.
- Finish to see your score. Then share the result or challenge a friend if that option appears for the quiz.
Spotify announced the feature on October 6, 2026, saying it was beginning a gradual rollout to Premium listeners aged 18 and older in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, India, Nigeria, South Africa, and Indonesia. The initial selection is in English and covers quizzes for more than 2,000 artists, according to Spotify’s announcement. Spotify says more artists, languages, and markets are planned, but has not announced a schedule.

How to challenge a friend
After completing a quiz, look for an option to share your result or challenge a friend. The exact controls can vary by quiz. Spotify’s BTS-specific instructions document this flow:
- Open and complete the BTS Music Quiz.
- Tap Challenge a friend.
- Have your friend complete the quiz too.
- After both players finish, check Your Updates for the scorecards Spotify sends to both participants.
That documented challenge flow is specific to the BTS quiz; Spotify has not said that every artist quiz uses the same button or delivers results in the same way. The BTS quiz announcement, dated March 20, 2026, says Premium listeners globally could play that quiz in English, Indonesian, Korean, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. General Music Quiz and the BTS quiz: availability differs

These are two availability cases within Spotify, not competing products. The general feature is being rolled out gradually, so a listener who meets its announced age, plan, and country requirements may still not see a quiz for every artist—or see the feature immediately.
Why can’t I see Music Quiz on Spotify?
Check the likely causes in this order:
- Your account may not meet the announced eligibility rules. The general rollout is for Premium listeners aged 18 and older in the 11 countries listed above.
- The feature may not have reached your account yet. Spotify describes the rollout as gradual and says availability may vary by listener.
- The artist may not have a quiz available to you. The card is associated with participating artists, not every track in Spotify’s catalog.
- Your app may need an update. Install the latest available version, play a track by a participating artist, and check the Now Playing screen by scrolling down.
If the card is visible but you cannot find a friend challenge, the quiz may not offer the same controls as the documented BTS version. Spotify’s general announcement does not promise a challenge button on every quiz.

Is Spotify Music Quiz the same as Jam?
No. Music Quiz is an artist-focused game where you answer questions and compare scores. Spotify Jam is shared listening: participants add music to a shared queue and listen together, in person or remotely. Spotify says Premium is required to start and host a Jam; Free users can join an in-person Jam hosted by a Premium listener, while remote joining requires Premium. Spotify’s Music Quiz instructions do not say that you need a Jam to take a quiz or challenge someone.
