To play co-op in Aniimo, add your friend by UID in the in-game Friends menu, make sure you are both on the same server, then invite them to Companion Mode or a Party. A current secondary guide reports that these social features unlock at Student I after catching Alpha Turbo in “Chasing the Clouds.” Co-op supports shared exploration and combat, but guests should not assume the host’s story progress or world-state rewards will carry over to their own world.
How to join a friend in Aniimo
- Unlock social features. Daily Aniimo reports that Friends and Party become available at Student I after catching Alpha Turbo during “Chasing the Clouds,” at about character level 14. This is secondary reporting, so check the current in-game menu if the unlock differs in your build. Daily Aniimo’s co-op guide.
- Choose the same server. Aniimo’s official FAQ says data on different servers is independent, while progress is shared across platforms within a server. If you are starting out, agree on a server before creating characters or making substantial progress. Aniimo’s official launch and account FAQ.
- Add your friend by UID. Open the Friends feature, look up your friend using their UID, and add them. The current guide describes UID as the friend lookup method. Daily Aniimo.
- Invite them to an activity. Invite the friend to Companion Mode for shared exploration or form a Party for a challenge. Read the activity’s lobby before launching: player capacity and rules can vary by mode.
- Check the lobby limit. Daily Aniimo reports up to four players in Companion Mode and most Party challenges. AniimoVerse cautions that event slots do not prove the free-roam party limit; use the launch lobby as the authority for the activity you are starting. AniimoVerse’s multiplayer guide.
What co-op lets you do
In a shared session, players can explore the host’s world and fight together. AniimoVerse also describes Twining, catching wild Aniimo for each player’s own roster, taking on Alpha or shared-boss combat, and collecting eligible chest or gathering loot. The guide says guests may need to stay near the host for some interactions, but does not establish a fixed tether distance.
How story and world progress work
Plan around the host’s world rather than treating a co-op session as shared campaign progression. AniimoVerse reports that story steps, NPC interactions, waypoint activation, and some world-state rewards belong to the host. It recommends letting the less-progressed player host and expecting guests to repeat objectives in their own worlds. Daily Aniimo characterizes main-story quests as solo-only; specific behavior may vary, so compare each player’s quest state after playing together. AniimoVerse and Daily Aniimo.
Is Aniimo cross-play?
Daily Aniimo reports cross-play among PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and mobile when players are on the same server. The official account FAQ confirms cross-platform progress sharing within a server and independent data across servers, but the official launch announcement does not itself spell out matchmaking cross-play. Platform and input notes
Aniimo’s September 14, 2026 announcement listed Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox for pre-download, with launch scheduled for September 16, 2026 at 10:00 (UTC+8). Its dated setup guidance called for at least 40 GB free on PC and recommended an SSD; console pre-download was listed at 30–35 GB, and the PS5 client installs to the internal SSD. Xbox Cloud Gaming was also listed, with a fast, stable internet connection required for cloud streaming. These are platform and installation notes, not special co-op requirements. The official FAQ says PlayStation 5 and Xbox controllers are supported, but a gamepad is optional. It also describes linking console accounts to an Aniimo Pass email account; follow the current prompts carefully when linking a PSN or Microsoft account. Official FAQ.
