ARC Raiders is an extraction adventure: deploy to a dangerous surface, scavenge useful gear, avoid or handle ARC machines and other Raiders, then try to extract with your loot. A good first raid is not about clearing the map or filling every inventory slot. It is about learning the loop and leaving before the risk outweighs what you have found.
How an ARC Raiders raid works
The game is available on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, with solo and squad play described on the official ARC Raiders site. Each raid connects four decisions:
- Deploy with a manageable loadout. Bring what you can afford to risk while learning.
- Search for useful loot. Give priority to items that matter for your current objectives or upgrades.
- Stay alert. ARC machines and other Raiders can threaten a run, and activity can reveal your position.
- Extract. Loot only becomes a successful haul if you survive long enough to get out.
Think of extraction as the goal, not an afterthought. A raid can be worthwhile even if you leave with a modest haul, especially when you are learning routes and timing.
Start with a lower-risk run
Use Free Loadout to learn
A third-party beginner guide updated June 17, 2026, recommends Free Loadout runs for practicing routes and extraction timing without risking permanent stash gear. It describes the loadout as including a main weapon and ammunition, bandages, a shield recharger, and utility items. Contents can change with updates, so check the live game’s loadout details before deploying.
#1 Best Overall
- ARC Raiders Deluxe Edition includes the base game and the following content: The Wanderer Set, including the following cosmetic items: “Valente” Outfit" “Pathfinder” Backpack,“Blanket Roll” Backpack Attachment.
- Plus: Character Cosmetic, Finger Gun Rapid Fire Emote, Cowboy Scrappy Body Type and Skin, 2 400 Raider Tokens.
Use an early run to learn how far you can travel, where routes feel exposed, and how long you need to reach an extraction point. Avoid treating a practice run as a test of how much loot you can carry.
Travel without giving away an easy opportunity
Movement choices affect both how quickly you get around and how much noise or stamina you spend. The June 2026 beginner guide says holstering a weapon while traveling increases movement speed, and recommends walking briefly to recover stamina rather than sprinting continuously. It also notes that heavy carried loads can slow movement and drain stamina faster. Exact controls and tuning may change between builds, so confirm the current behavior in-game.
Rank #2
- Plan a route before sprinting across exposed ground.
- Use brief pauses to recover stamina instead of arriving at a threat exhausted.
- Be selective about extra loot if a heavier load makes movement less safe.
Listen before you loot or engage
Sound can signal that someone is nearby. The beginner guide identifies footsteps, gunfire, container looting, shield recharging, and abilities as potential clues to player activity. Sprinting and noisy looting may also draw attention. Pause and listen before entering a busy area or committing to a fight.
Headphones or good stereo speakers may make audio cues easier to notice, but neither is required. Use equipment you already own and can hear clearly; the available guidance does not establish a particular headset as best or demonstrate a measurable hardware advantage.

Choose fights instead of accepting every one
A fight can cost ammunition, health, time, and the advantage of keeping your position quiet. If the likely reward is not worth those costs, avoid the encounter and keep moving. When combat is necessary, favor cover and a position that gives you an advantage over an open duel.
- Do not fire just because you have spotted a machine or another Raider.
- Consider whether the noise and delay could attract additional danger.
- If the route to your objective or extraction remains open, leaving may be the better decision.
Decide what loot is worth protecting
The beginner guide recommends putting quest items and rare components ahead of common crafting materials, and suggests securing valuable finds in the Safe Pocket before a risky encounter. Inventory and Safe Pocket rules can be patch-sensitive; check the current in-game item descriptions and inventory behavior rather than assuming an old guide still matches the live build.
Rank #4
- Capture and Tame Dinosaurs: Discover over 100 different dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures on the island, finding ways to tame them into useful additions for your tribe's dyno herd
- Survive Above All: Hunger, thirst, basic safety, and protecting yourself from the weather are all part of the game
- Harvest, Hunt and Build: Cut down trees and turn them into a basic home, which you can quickly expand into a Jurassic estate. Hunt for meat, scavenge for plants (or start your own garden!)
- Customize Everything: An extensive crafting system invites you to mix and match materials scavenged from the island, while also modifying the colors, textures, shapes, and styles
- Explore the Island: Solve the mystery of The ARK as you explore this massive island, discovering Explorer's Notebooks (filled with clues!) throughout
Keep reassessing your haul as the raid develops. A common material may be useful, but it is not automatically worth taking a dangerous detour or carrying a heavier load.
Extract before a decent haul becomes a bad bet
After finding something worthwhile, consider heading out rather than making one more stop. The beginner guide advises extracting early with decent loot and scouting the approach to the exit. Before committing, listen for activity and consider whether the approach leaves you exposed. A full backpack has no value if you are eliminated before extraction.

Solo or squad: choose the kind of practice you need
There is no universally best choice for a beginner. The third-party beginner guide favors squads for revive opportunities and cover during extraction, while noting that solo Free Loadout runs can help players learn maps without coordinating with teammates.
| Play style | Useful for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Squad | Having teammates who may revive you and provide cover | Requires coordination with other players |
| Solo | Practicing routes and decisions independently | You do not have squad backup |
Choose a squad if backup matters more to you; choose solo if you want to practice independently. Either way, use a manageable run to learn how routes and extraction approaches feel.
Keep current details in perspective
Loadout contents, inventory mechanics, movement tuning, and event schedules can change. The official site is the place to check current game announcements; its October 2026 news feed included a Frozen Trail announcement for October 8 and a free-play period from October 8 through October 12. Those dates describe a particular announcement, not a permanent feature or ongoing availability.
