For a smoother family visit to Seattle’s Pacific Science Center (PacSci), check the date-specific hours and ticket calendar, reserve any Planetarium or daytime Laser Dome shows you want, and plan around the North Entrance. PacSci currently lists hours as Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; hours, access, exhibit listings, and show availability can change, so confirm them for your visit date.

Check the hours, entrance, and tickets first

PacSci’s current visitor information lists the North Entrance, near the Armory and Mural Amphitheater in Seattle Center, as the entrance to use. The Denny Way entrance is listed as closed. Check the official Visit page shortly before leaving in case operating hours or access conditions have changed.

Admission prices vary by date and factors including demand, capacity, holidays, and events. Use the live ticket calendar rather than relying on a fixed price. PacSci says purchasing at least 24 hours ahead can save on admission. Washington residents can select a general-admission discount where available, but restrictions apply and proof of address is required at entry; review the current terms before buying.

Know what admission covers

General admission includes the campus and exhibits, plus daytime Planetarium and Laser Dome shows when you reserve a timed ticket. PacSci’s current Visit page describes these reservations as free with admission, while its FAQ says additional timed tickets are needed. Because the wording differs, check the checkout flow for your date and secure the show reservation rather than assuming admission alone guarantees a seat. Planetarium capacity is limited, and PacSci recommends reserving in advance.

Choose shows and exhibits around your family

Start with PacSci’s Today’s Schedule and exhibits listing. General admission includes exhibits such as the Tropical Butterfly House and Maker & Innovation Lab; featured exhibits and programming can change. The current listing names Mysteries From The Deep: Exploring Underwater Archaeology, opening October 2 and included in admission, and PacSci’s FAQ also mentions Artemis Adventure with LEGO Bricks. Check the live listings to see what is actually available on your date.

A flexible way to organize the day

  1. Reserve first: Choose one or two timed shows that matter most to your family and check their availability before finalizing plans.
  2. Leave open exhibit time: Work hands-on exhibits and featured experiences around show times rather than trying to schedule every stop.
  3. Plan breaks: Allow time to rest, eat, and move between experiences, especially if younger children may need a slower pace.
  4. Decide about IMAX separately: Add a movie only after checking its separate ticketing and timing.

This is a practical planning approach, not a venue-prescribed itinerary; use the live schedule to make the day fit your children’s interests and energy.

Choose transit, parking, or an accessible drop-off

PacSci is beside Seattle Center. Its transportation and parking information lists the Seattle Center Monorail from Westlake Center, Link light rail access via Westlake, and Metro bus routes serving the entrance. PacSci also describes a limited transit-fare offer for visitors who buy tickets at least 24 hours ahead. Check whether an offer or code is still available before relying on it.

If driving, compare nearby Seattle Center garages or consider reserving through SpotHero, which PacSci identifies as a parking partner. The garages are not managed by PacSci, so check the operator’s current rates, hours, availability, and access conditions.

PacSci reports that the Claypool Memorial Garage elevator is currently out of service. If your party needs step-free access, confirm the garage’s status close to your visit and consider the accessible drop-off along Sue Bird Court.

Plan for mobility and sensory needs

PacSci’s accessibility information says free wheelchairs are available at the Main Entry Information Desk on a first-come basis. A valid ID is held as a deposit; the venue recommends requesting a wheelchair ahead during busy periods. An aide accompanying a guest with a disability receives complimentary admission, and service animals are welcome.

The venue also lists sensory-friendly hours, a Sensory Lounge, and sensory kits. Kits include noise-cancelling headphones, earplugs, fidgets, sand timers, sunglasses, and activity books. Check the dates for sensory-friendly hours and contact Guest Services with individual access questions. Families may bring familiar sensory equipment if helpful, but PacSci lists kit supplies of its own.

Know a few practical rules before you go

  • Strollers are not permitted inside the Tropical Butterfly House; the Visit page describes nearby stroller parking.
  • Helium balloons are not allowed indoors.
  • Late seating is not allowed in the IMAX Theater and Laser Dome, so arrive with enough time for your reserved show.

For families planning a multi-attraction Seattle trip, PacSci identifies CityPASS as an authorized reseller. Compare the live bundle terms and eligibility with buying attractions individually before choosing.
