There is no single delete-all switch for every Meta service. To leave them, identify each account or profile you use, delete the ones you want removed in their own settings, and check linked services before confirming. Save data you want to keep and move any app logins that depend on Facebook first.
Why deleting Facebook may not delete every Meta account
Meta is gradually transitioning Accounts Center to Meta Account. Meta announced on April 23, 2026, that the rollout would take place over the following year; apps and devices already in Accounts Center are expected to appear as the change reaches each user. Meta Account centralizes some account-management and sign-in settings, but Meta describes separate accounts for different apps and devices—not one universal deletion action. Make an inventory before deleting anything. Check Accounts Center or Meta Account, then check each app you use for additional profiles or accounts. Include any extra Facebook profiles, Instagram accounts, Threads, WhatsApp, Messenger, Meta AI, AI glasses, and Meta Quest. Meta lists these technologies in its account-management information, but they are not all equivalent social profiles, and the announced transition does not establish that deleting one account removes all of them.
WhatsApp is optional in Meta Account. If you do not add it, Meta says it remains separate and is managed as before; an existing WhatsApp entry can also be removed from the account hub. Its messages and calls remain end-to-end encrypted. Meta’s WhatsApp and Accounts Center announcement and its 2026 Meta Account announcement describe the relationship.

Before deleting: save data and protect access to other services
- Save what you want to keep. Download a copy of Facebook information before submitting a deletion request. For other apps, check their current settings for export or backup options; the available guidance does not establish one export route for all services.
- Replace Facebook Login where you can. If you use Facebook to sign in to another app, change that app to an email address or another login method before deleting Facebook. Otherwise you may lose access to the account.
- Check Messenger and Quest access. Deleting Facebook also means losing Messenger use. If Facebook is the login for Meta Quest, you may lose access to Quest products and information associated with that Facebook account.
- Review linked profiles. If you want to keep Instagram or Threads, inspect the in-app confirmation carefully before deleting either; the reported deletion dependency is described below.

Delete a Facebook account or additional profile
Meta’s general route is through Accounts Center. Labels can differ by app version or region. Select the specific Facebook account or profile you intend to delete; do not assume that the first option shown represents every profile.

- Open Facebook and select the profile menu.
- Choose Settings and privacy, then Settings.
- Open Accounts Center and choose Personal details.
- Select Account ownership and control, then Deactivation or deletion.
- Choose the account or profile, select Delete account, and continue through the confirmation screens.
If that route is unavailable, Meta lists this alternative in Facebook settings: Your Facebook information → Deactivation and deletion → Delete account → Continue to account deletion. Follow the confirmation screens and verify that you selected deletion, not deactivation. Meta’s Facebook Help Center instructions provide both routes.
Deletion is not immediate
Meta says a Facebook deletion request can generally be canceled by logging back in within 30 days, though the cancellation period varies by region. It says it may take up to 90 days from the start of the process to delete everything posted; while deletion is underway, other Facebook users cannot access the information. Meta also warns that copies may remain in backup storage or be retained for legal issues, terms violations, or harm prevention. As Facebook Help Center puts it: “Copies of your information may remain after the 90 days in backup storage that we use to recover in the event of a disaster, software error or other data loss event.” Facebook Help Center

Delete WhatsApp separately
Do not treat removal from Meta Account as deletion of the WhatsApp account. Use WhatsApp’s current in-app account settings to find its account-deletion control, then follow the confirmation prompts. The precise current menu labels are not established here, so use the app’s own prompts or WhatsApp Help Center rather than relying on an assumed path.
WhatsApp says deleting an account erases message history and can take up to 90 days to delete WhatsApp information; information shared with other Meta companies is also deleted. Check Instagram and Threads before deleting either
The Associated Press reported on January 23, 2025, that deleting an Instagram account also deletes its linked Threads account, while deleting Threads does not delete the corresponding Instagram account. That is secondary-source guidance, and an official current confirmation was not available. If you want to retain one service, open Instagram’s in-app Accounts Center or account-ownership controls and read the confirmation screen closely to see which profile will be deleted. For Messenger, Meta AI, AI glasses, or Meta Quest, inspect the signed-in account and that product’s current settings or official help flow. Facebook deletion has documented consequences for Messenger and for Quest access when Facebook is the login, but that does not establish that deleting Facebook will unpair, reset, or erase a physical device. Treat app accounts, device connections, and stored data as separate checks.

Final deletion checklist
- List every account, profile, and device you use; include extra Facebook and Instagram profiles.
- Save information you want to keep and change third-party logins that rely on Facebook.
- Delete each intended account in its own current app or account settings.
- Read the final confirmation screen, especially for Instagram and Threads, before proceeding.
- For Facebook, avoid logging back in during the applicable cancellation period if you want the deletion request to continue.
- Check product-specific settings for devices and services rather than assuming a social-account deletion removes or resets them.
