For an India-based self-serve Google Cloud billing account, Google lists credit and debit cards as payment methods and bills in INR. UPI is documented only for qualified organizations that meet Google’s India and bank-account requirements. Before creating the account, choose India carefully: its country and currency settings affect available payment options and cannot later be changed on that billing account. Google Cloud’s payment-method documentation has the current country-specific details.
Which payment methods can you use from India?
The available route depends on your billing-account type and eligibility. Do not assume that every payment method is available to every account.

Google lists INR as India’s self-serve billing currency. Check Google’s currency and payment-method list for the current country-specific information.
Choose the billing country before you create the account
- Select India only if it matches your billing address and account setup. Google says the selected country affects which payment methods are available and automatically assigns the account currency.
- Review the currency and payment options before confirming. Google says you cannot change the billing-account country or currency later on that account. If you select the wrong country, do not assume you can edit it; consult Google’s billing guidance for the appropriate next step. Manage a Cloud Billing account
- Complete identity verification on time. For an India billing address, Google requires identity verification within 30 days after account creation. If Google declines an automatic card payment
A declined automatic payment does not necessarily mean Compute Engine is unavailable to you. Google says declines can occur when a card does not support automatic payments or, for new accounts, when costs exceed the RBI-set limit described in its guidance. - Try a manual payment if the billing account offers that option, then check whether the balance is covered.
- Try another eligible card if the current card does not support automatic payments or continues to fail.
- Ask Google about a local reseller if you need another payment method or help with invoicing. Check the reseller’s terms and payment methods directly; availability is not guaranteed.
- If you already have invoiced billing, use the payment method and instructions on your invoice. An invoiced account is not automatically available to every customer.
Estimate the Compute Engine bill before streaming
There is no single reliable monthly price for “a streaming VM.” Compute Engine charges depend on the machine type, region, runtime, disk configuration, and network usage. VM resources, disks, and networking are separate cost considerations. Google’s Compute Engine pricing documentation says vCPU and memory resources have a one-minute minimum charge; that minimum is not a monthly estimate. Compute Engine pricing
- Specify the workload inputs. Choose the VM type and region, how many hours it will run, the disk type and size, and the expected network traffic.
- Use Google’s pricing calculator to estimate those resources rather than relying on a generic streaming price. Google Cloud pricing calculator
- Check the actual billing account and SKUs. Confirm the billing currency and the prices that apply to your account and chosen resources; estimates depend on the configuration and usage entered.
- Monitor actual usage and charges after deployment. A continuously running VM can accrue costs for its runtime and associated resources, so compare actual billing with your estimate.
This estimate covers the Google Cloud billing question, not whether a particular VM can reliably encode or deliver a YouTube live stream. The available evidence here does not establish a suitable machine size, YouTube ingest protocol, encoder settings, or a tested stream configuration; verify those separately against current YouTube and Google Cloud documentation before relying on a VM for a live channel.

Check which India GST case applies to your account
Google’s India tax guidance distinguishes customers by contracting entity. For Google Cloud services sold by Google Cloud India Private Limited to a customer with an India billing address, the stated GST is 18% regardless of GSTIN status. Separately, for customers in India contracted with Google Asia Pacific, Google says a valid GSTIN is required for 0% GST beginning February 1, 2025; without a valid GSTIN, the stated rate is 18%. These are different customer cases, not a general rule that providing a GSTIN always removes GST. Check your billing profile, contracting entity, and GST details against Google’s current guidance.
