To get stereo from two JBL PartyBox speakers, use TWS (True Wireless Stereo) with a compatible pair—usually two speakers of the same model. To play the same audio on different supported models, use Party mode instead; it links playback but does not create left and right stereo channels. Exact compatibility and button steps depend on the model, so identify both speakers before pairing.
Choose stereo or shared party playback
| What you want | Pairing mode | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Left and right stereo channels | TWS | Generally requires two PartyBox speakers of the same model. JBL lists exceptions, including PartyBox 200 with 300, and PartyBox On-The-Go with On-The-Go Essential. Confirm the exact pair in JBL’s TWS compatibility guidance. |
| Shared playback from different supported models | Party mode | Some different PartyBox models can connect in Party mode, but this does not provide stereo channel separation. JBL’s U.S. PartyBox setup guidance describes supported model families and app controls. |
Do not assume that two speakers can pair just because both have the PartyBox name. JBL’s compatibility guidance and the manuals for the exact models are the references to use; wireless range is not established as one universal figure for every pair.
Pair two compatible speakers wirelessly
- Check the model names. Read the model printed on each speaker and confirm that JBL supports the pair for the mode you want. For stereo, use a matching pair unless JBL documents an exception for those exact models.
- Turn on both speakers and keep them nearby. Pairing controls differ by generation; follow the instructions for your models rather than assuming every PartyBox uses the same button sequence.
- Start pairing on both speakers. On the PartyBox 310 and 710, JBL instructs users to press the TWS button on both speakers. Their manuals describe TWS operation: PartyBox 310 Owner’s Manual and PartyBox 710 Owner’s Manual. Older models, including the 200, 300, and 1000, may use a press-and-hold Bluetooth control instead; check the relevant manual.
- Select the mode and channel assignment if available. On supported app-compatible models, the JBL PartyBox app can provide TWS controls and left/right channel assignment. Use the app only if JBL lists it as compatible with your speakers.
- Play audio and confirm the result. Check that the selected mode matches your goal: TWS for stereo where supported, or Party mode for shared playback on supported unlike models.
When a microphone or instrument must play through both speakers
TWS does not necessarily repeat a live input connected to only one speaker. JBL states: “If you connect an instrument or microphone to one Partybox speaker while using TWS, the instrument or microphone connected to one speaker will be reproduced by this speaker alone.” For both speakers to reproduce that source, use a compatible wired connection between them or route the source through a mixer, matching the connection to the available inputs and outputs.
Use a wired link when wireless pairing is not the right fit
JBL describes RCA, AUX, and daisy-chain connections for linking some speakers, including for microphone or instrument audio. The suitable cable and signal path depend on the ports on both specific speakers, so check their manuals before connecting. A cable that fits one PartyBox pair may not fit another.

If the speakers will not pair
- Verify compatibility for the intended mode. A pair supported for Party mode is not necessarily supported for stereo TWS.
- Recheck the model-specific control sequence. Newer models with a TWS button and older models that use Bluetooth controls do not share one universal procedure.
- Check app support. App-based controls and channel assignment are available only for supported models.
- For live inputs, check the signal path. A microphone or instrument plugged into one speaker alone will not be sent to the other by TWS; use a compatible wired route or mixer.
