There is no single best RTX 5060 preset for every PC or game. Start with your normal resolution and a repeatable in-game scene, measure performance, then change one demanding option at a time. Compare image quality, traditionally rendered frame rate, and responsiveness before keeping a change. DLSS can help in supported games, but generated frames should not be mistaken for the game’s base rendered FPS.
Start with a baseline in the game you actually play
The desktop GeForce RTX 5060 has 8 GB of GDDR7 memory, 3,840 CUDA cores, and a listed boost clock of 2.50 GHz, according to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 specifications. Those specifications do not identify a universal graphics preset: performance also depends on the game, resolution, CPU, display refresh rate, and the frame rate you want.
- Use your usual setup. Set the game to the resolution and display mode you normally use, and note the current graphics options.
- Choose a repeatable test. Use the same built-in benchmark, replay, or scene for each comparison. Avoid comparing different areas or gameplay conditions.
- Record the baseline. Note average FPS and low FPS if the game provides them. Also observe frame pacing and whether the system appears limited by the GPU, CPU, or memory use.
- Change one option at a time. Retest the same scene, then compare the performance gain with any visible loss in detail, lighting, or stability.
Keep a change only if its benefit matters at your target. A setting that raises an average but leaves distracting stutter or poor image quality may not be an improvement.
Adjust demanding graphics options by testing, not by a universal list
Graphics options do not cost the same amount in every engine, so an across-the-board order of settings to lower would be misleading. Test the options that are demanding in the particular game you are playing. If the GPU is consistently the apparent limit, reducing a costly visual option may help; if the CPU is the limit, lowering GPU-heavy detail may have little effect.

- Compare the same scene before and after each change.
- Check both average performance and low points or stutters, where available.
- Inspect the result at your normal output resolution. A change that looks acceptable on a small preview may be obvious during play.
- Keep a short note of settings that improved performance without an unacceptable image-quality tradeoff, so updates or later changes are easier to reverse.
Choose DLSS settings for your output resolution
In games that offer DLSS Super Resolution, compare the modes available in that game at your normal output resolution. NVIDIA describes Super Resolution as reconstructing a higher-resolution output from a lower-resolution input; the resulting image quality and performance depend on the game and selected mode. Test each mode in motion as well as in a still scene. Look for image softness, artifacts, or other distractions, and weigh those against the performance change. There is no evidence-backed mode that is best for every RTX 5060 owner or every title.

Understand Frame Generation before judging FPS
DLSS Frame Generation adds generated frames. A displayed FPS figure that includes those frames is not the same as the game’s traditionally rendered frame rate. NVIDIA also describes Reflex as the associated latency technology, but frame synthesis should not be treated as a substitute for adequate base performance or as a guarantee of lower input latency.
Try Frame Generation in the game itself and judge the result by both smoothness and responsiveness while playing. The balance can vary by game and by player; a higher displayed number alone does not establish that controls feel better.

Use NVIDIA App overrides only in supported games
DLSS options are game-dependent. Where a title supports the relevant controls, NVIDIA documents overrides in NVIDIA App > Graphics > Program Settings. Its Multi Frame Generation override for RTX 50 Series requires Frame Generation to be enabled in the game. Details are in NVIDIA’s NVIDIA App update notes.
If an override is unavailable, do not assume the feature can be forced in that title. Check the game’s own graphics settings and supported options, then retest after a game or driver update because support can change.

Interpret RTX 5060 benchmark figures in context
NVIDIA’s published RTX 5060 comparison includes DOOM: The Dark Ages at 233 FPS versus 121 FPS for the RTX 4060, and Hogwarts Legacy at 234 FPS versus 111 FPS. These are NVIDIA’s results, not a promise for another PC. NVIDIA specifies 1080p, maximum settings, a Ryzen 7 9800X3D, DLSS Super Resolution and Ray Reconstruction, and Multi Frame Generation (4X) on RTX 50 Series where available. After a game or driver update, revisit the settings you changed and repeat the same scene test. Options, feature support, and performance can shift. When comparing configurations, keep separate notes for output resolution, image quality, traditionally rendered FPS, generated or displayed FPS, responsiveness, game support, and your monitor’s refresh-rate target. This makes it easier to choose a setup that feels right rather than optimizing for one number alone.
