- Review the sign-in page and requested access. Check which account is being connected and what data the tracker requests. Do not proceed if the page or request does not look like the expected platform sign-in flow.

How do I prepare a CSV or JSON file?
Make the file easy for the destination to match, and keep a clean original copy. A consistent title column is essential; preserve other useful fields when the source and destination support them.
- Export the source library. Use the platform, tracker, or app’s documented export option. Save the file somewhere you can find it again.
- Make a backup copy. Leave one copy untouched. If you need to adjust column names or remove irrelevant rows, work on a duplicate.
- Check the rows and columns. Keep one game per row and retain a clear game-title column. If available, keep platform, status, rating, hours played, and notes in separate columns.
- Use the destination’s expected format. If it accepts CSV, use CSV; if it requests JSON, use JSON. For a CSV with unfamiliar column names, follow the app’s mapping flow rather than assuming it will infer every field.
- Remove only what you mean to remove. If the export includes unrelated rows or duplicate entries, decide whether to clean them before importing. Keep the untouched backup so you can recover the original information.
A file can contain information the destination does not support. For instance, the presence of a notes or playtime column in a CSV does not mean the importing app will preserve that field. Check the destination’s import description and inspect the result.
How can I prevent duplicates and incorrect game matches?
Review the tracker’s matches before treating the import as complete. Similar titles, remasters, editions, and releases on multiple platforms can be mistaken for one another, and an import may leave some rows unmatched.

What should I consider about privacy and ongoing sync?
Choose between connected-account convenience and file-based control according to what matters to you. A direct integration may be faster, while a file import lets you move a prepared snapshot without setting up a continuing account connection.
Before authorizing an integration, review the permissions shown and the tracker’s explanation of how the connection works. The available controls for disconnecting access depend on the app and platform. What should I do if the import is incomplete?
Work from the original export and the destination’s error or unmatched list, if it provides one. The issue is often a mismatch in format, title matching, or fields rather than a reason to discard the whole library.
- The app rejects the file: confirm that the destination accepts that file type and use the format it requests. If it has a column-mapping feature, map the title column and other supported fields explicitly.
