Removing someone ends their access and frees their seat; it does not reduce the organization’s paid seat allocation or create an immediate refund. This guide covers invitations, seat changes, billing, and cancellation using Anthropic’s guidance current as of October 7, 2026.
Who can manage members, seats, and billing?
Claude Team uses distinct permissions for administration and payment. An Admin can manage ordinary member access, but cannot change billing methods or purchase new seats. The Primary Owner is the only role that can provision new seats.
| Action | Who can do it |
|---|---|
| Invite or remove ordinary members; cancel their invitations | Admin, Owner, or Primary Owner |
| Invite or remove Admins or Owners; change roles | Owner or Primary Owner |
| Reassign member seat types under the Team seat workflow | Admin or higher |
| Provision additional seats | Primary Owner only |
| View or pay invoices; add or change a payment method | Owner or Primary Owner |
All roles can create and modify chats and use projects. A Team organization can have only one Primary Owner, and that role uses a plan license. See Anthropic’s roles and permissions guidance for role details.
How to invite members
- Open Organization settings > Members.
- Select the option to add a member. An Admin or higher can send invitations to ordinary members; inviting Admins or Owners requires an Owner or Primary Owner.
- Enter an email address on a domain allowed by the organization, then choose the seat type and role.
- Send the invitation. To invite several people, use Bulk add.
A pending invitation occupies an available seat immediately, even before the invitee accepts. Invitations expire after 21 days; send a new invitation if one expires. Anthropic’s Team and Enterprise member guidance also describes invite links, which are enabled by default for new Team organizations. Admins can disable a link, invalidating existing links; regenerating a link also invalidates the old one. Member-to-member invitations and approval flows depend on the organization’s settings, so check those settings before relying on that route.
#1 Best Overall

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check allowed domains
For organizations not using domain capture, an Owner can review permitted domains at Organization settings > Identity and access. The account creator must use a business email address, but public email domains may be added as permitted domains for other members. See Anthropic’s Team plan getting-started guidance.
How to remove a member—and what happens to the seat
- Go to Organization settings > Members.
- Select the member and choose the removal option. An Admin or higher can remove ordinary members; removing an Admin or Owner requires an Owner or Primary Owner.
- Confirm the removal. The person loses organization access immediately, and the occupied seat becomes available for reassignment.
Removing a member does not reduce the organization’s total paid seat count. If the person is later added again using the same email address, their account history is maintained. An Owner or Primary Owner cannot remove themself; another Owner or Primary Owner must do so.

How to reassign seats or lower the seat allocation
Move a member between Standard and Premium
Admins and higher can reassign seat types within the existing allocation. A Premium-to-Standard change takes effect at renewal and does not generate an immediate prorated refund. A Standard-to-Premium upgrade is charged immediately on a prorated basis for the price difference. If no Premium seat is available, the Primary Owner must provision an additional Premium seat.
Setting a member to No seat assigned keeps them in the organization but prevents them from using Claude until they receive a seat. Pending invitations still count against the seat limit.

Reduce the number of purchased seats
- As an Owner or Primary Owner, open Organization settings > Organization and access.
- Choose Manage under Total seats.
- Change the seat count, review the billing impact, and confirm.
A reduction takes effect at the next renewal; submitting the change does not produce a prorated refund. Removing members and reducing the purchased allocation are separate actions. Anthropic documents the seat workflow in its Team seat management guidance.

|---|---|---|
| Standard | $25 per member per month | $20 per member per month |
| Premium | $125 per member per month | $100 per member per month |
These are vendor-published plan prices, not independent usage-test results. The Team plan requires at least two members and supports up to 150 seats. The overview lists a usage allowance of 1.25 times Pro’s per-session allowance for Standard and 6.25 times for Premium. Plan details and prices can change; see Anthropic’s current plan pricing and Team plan overview.
The payment method is charged at the start of the billing cycle based on the organization’s paid allocation. Adding members or upgrading seats during a cycle triggers an immediate prorated charge. Removing a member does not create an immediate credit or refund, although the freed seat can be reassigned. If usage credits are enabled, usage beyond included seat limits may add charges. Anthropic explains these billing rules in its Team billing FAQ and seat management guidance.

How to manage payment methods, invoices, and billing emails
An Owner or Primary Owner can update the payment method at Organization settings > Billing. Anthropic says credit, debit, and prepaid cards are accepted; ACH bank transfers are not accepted at this time.
To view or download an invoice, an Owner can open the Invoices section on the Billing page and download it through the associated Stripe page. Invoices are also emailed automatically to the organization’s billing email addresses. To change billing email details or add invoice recipients, contact Anthropic Support; an Owner must authorize the request. See the Team billing FAQ.
How to cancel the Team plan
- As an Owner or Primary Owner, go to Organization settings > Billing.
- Choose the cancellation option and confirm.
Cancellation prevents the next cycle’s charge, but members keep access through the end of the current billing period. After cancellation, the settings interface no longer allows member removal; contact Support if you need a member removed while the plan is canceled. See Anthropic’s Team cancellation guidance.
