To make a Samsung phone behave as if it is busy, use Call forwarding > Forward when busy to redirect calls when you are already on a call. If you want your phone to stay quiet, use Do not disturb; to stop calls from particular numbers, block them. Forwarding is carrier-dependent and does not guarantee callers will hear a literal busy tone.
Choose what callers should experience
| Method | Caller outcome | Scope | Carrier dependence | Exceptions and reversal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Forward when busy | Incoming calls are redirected to a number you choose while your line is busy. | Busy-only. | Carrier support or activation may be required; confirm with your carrier. | Turn off or change the forwarding setting in Call forwarding. |
| Do not disturb | Your phone locally mutes calls and notifications; it does not necessarily give callers a busy signal. | Calls and alerts, subject to your settings. | Device setting. | You can allow exceptions such as selected contacts, favorites, or repeated callers, and switch the mode off or adjust its schedule. |
| Block numbers | Blocked calls do not appear as normal incoming-call notifications; they may still be recorded in the call log. | Selected numbers, or unknown/private callers if you enable that option. | Device setting. | Remove a number from the blocked list or turn off unknown/private blocking in Block numbers. |
Forward calls when you are already on another call
Samsung’s Gulf support guide describes call forwarding as redirecting incoming calls to another number when your phone is busy, unreachable, or unanswered: Samsung Gulf: Set up call forwarding on a Samsung Galaxy. The exact menu names vary by model, region, carrier, and One UI version.
Set up Forward when busy
- Open the Phone app and tap the three-dot menu or More options.
- Open Settings. Depending on your phone, tap Call settings or Supplementary services.
- Tap Call forwarding. If prompted, choose Voice calls.
- Select Forward when busy, enter the destination number, and save or enable the setting.
Samsung’s Saudi support guide documents the path Phone > More options > Settings > Supplementary services > Call forwarding > Voice calls, while other Galaxy menus may show Call settings instead: Samsung Saudi Arabia: Set up call forwarding on a Samsung Galaxy.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck the destination number carefully. If the setting is missing, fails to activate, or does not redirect calls, ask your carrier whether call forwarding is enabled for your account and SIM, and whether any restrictions apply. A forwarding setting redirects calls; whether callers hear a busy tone before or instead of redirection depends on the carrier and network behavior.

Silence calls without turning the phone off
Use Do not disturb if you want calls muted on the phone rather than forwarded. Open Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb, then enable it or create a schedule. Samsung lets you configure exceptions, including selected contacts, favorites, or repeated callers. Review those allowances if a call still rings: an exception may let it through. See Samsung Support: Use Do not disturb mode on your Galaxy phone.
